I’m pretty sure Napa batteries are made by Johnson also. They should fit fine.

Idk, there’s like 2 different Duracell 27f’s at batteries plus. No idea if dimensions are the same. Either way my stock bolts/hold down weren’t enough to reach.

The two batteries I've gotten recently at NAPA were made by East Penn.

Lowest bid. Having said that, I’d rather have Eastern Penn than Johnson Controls.

NAPA batteries are made by East Penn afaik. they generally get great reviews overall.
I don't think lowest bid has anything to do with it

East Penn is huge and has the well-oiled logistics operations, and NAPA is huge too. They can supply batteries reliably just-in-time coast to coast. East Penn has been making gigantic battery arrays and supplying corporations with batteries for a long time. They focus on batteries, whereas Johnson Controls and others... batteries are only a small part of it. Exide has a toxic waste spillage past and public safety violations. and in big environmental trouble, so it's not 'clean' to partner with them.
RE: some residents in communities where Exide operates are questioning Exide's partners and distributors about their corporate responsibility and culpability in selling Exide’s products. Exide is bigger than all of them but they have poisoned all the communities where they operate to get that big. they suck.

It does "fit" fine, fits the trey fine and the cables are long enough for the posts. It's just either the top cap on the battery is thicker or the battery itself is slightly taller by like 3/4". The factory battery tie down hooks have to be unscrewed out all the way and you need to push down the tie down in order to get the post hooked. It does put quite a bit of pressure on one corner of the battery.

Based on the posts above, it looks like I was wrong about Johnson making Napa batteries. Sorry for the bad information.

It’s lowest bid that’ll meet their specs and QC. I never said Eat Penn was bad. I prefer them over most!

Same here, I have a strict policy against Johnson Controls batteries in my vehicles. Stuck me one time too many over recent years. I'm sure they are saving big $$ making their stuff in Mexico, but their reliability took a hit in my experience.

Bought a 27F from Sam’s Club tonight and it does not fit. It seems to be slightly thinner and taller. The battery strap will not reach. Previously I used an Autozone Duralast 27F and it fit fine. Pretty upset.

I had to do a little massaging to the OEM top battery strap/hold-down and the j-hooks so that it would fit the last 27F battery I bought (Deka Gold, made by East Penn)

Thrilled with the price of a Duracell 3-year-warrantied 27F from Sam's, until I tried to put it in. :-( WTF?!? A 27F should g.d. better be a 27F, that's what the danged form factor numbers are supposed to mean!! Original Toy batt is 7-7/8" tall, Sam's Club 27F is 8-1/2" tall... no wonder they rate it higher amps & CCA! Using a bunch o' bungees and a piece of foam by the sidewall for now. NOT happy.
Anyone selling taller battery clamp parts on here? 'Cuz I sure ain't going without the plastic undertray...!

Taller J hooks cost me about $6. They can be found at most auto parts stores or Amazon.

I haven't bothered in more years than I care to think about. Batteries just don't leak and sputter like they used to. Gosh... I can't remember the last time I had noticeable terminal corrosion (really just acid crud build-up) on a battery that was in service. Old ones left in "parked" cars for a few years, well...

I got a 27f Champion from Pep boys the other day - fits fine. Anybody have any experience with those?

Its a safety reason you dont want to put a group 27 (non ‘F’) in our trucks. You dont want the positive terminal next to the fender wall, a ground source.

not a good idea, vaseline is flammable and can also affect and degrade wire insulation, and swell o-rings.
it doens't belong in the engine bay imho

the more flammable goo in the engine bay the higher
the risk a small spark or fire can turn to a big one. and the risk of brittle insulation and
    peeling battery cables ?

use dielectric grease if you want to lube battery terminals
