I’ve been having some trouble with my battery warning light. I just finished a 900km road trip having no issues. I’m about 10km from home when my battery light comes on. I got home battery tested bad so I replaced that but I still had the issue. Further research through these forms and couldn’t find anything wrong with the wiring/connections. So I thought my alternator could be f***ed put a new one in and I’m still having the same problem. All my wires are good I took the fuse box apart to see if there was any loose connection and nothing. I’m stumped any info or advice is helpful thanks

Take it to a local vatozone or the like and have them do a load test on the battery and charging test on alternator, it can only be one of those two.

I’ve had a load test done at work it tests fine. I get 12.7V off the battery when it’s off. When I start up I get 14.15V. I brought it my mechanic as well he took a quick look at it and Said the system is charging. The old alternator put out 13.98 with all lights on.

Yes I’ve read through that before. I’m gonna cut into the plug wire harness when I get home

If its charging around 13.5-14.0 volts then the system is doing what its supposed to do. I assume you haven't had any slow crank/no crank mornings right?

An issue in the gauge cluster is rare. Everytime I've had a situation where the alt is charging but the dummy light thinks it isn't it ended being the fault of a poor quality reman unit.

It starts up just fine and runs normally the first time I put the new battery on the trickle charger it said low so maybe there’s a connection issue I’ll have to slice into it and look

So I tore into the wiring didn’t find anything wrong. I charged the battery overnight it said it was low. So the system isn’t charging properly. Using a multimeter when it’s running I still get 14.15V

    Any ideas?

When the battery light came on for me it was the alternator. At 14.15 volts the battery is being charged. Does the light come on and off. Maybe there is a loose connection somewhere?

It’s on and been on. It went off for 3 km after putting the new alternator on now it’s staying on

Maybe you have some parasitic drain on the battery when you lock it up and walk away

Where are you measuring the 14.15V? Is that right on top of the battery?

Have you had any trouble getting it started in the last couple days?
Are you load testing the battery and getting a low reading or are you just reading the voltage?
