OE battery in truck is 24F. Many posts hear say 27F. Auto Zone.com says BOTH battery's fit despite the 27F being over 1in. longer.
Sorry if this has been covered here but I need a replacement ASAP.

I think people were buying battery tie down clamp and /or kit from gen2s to hold the larger battery. I’m not 100% sure though, just answering to get your search started, as it sounds like you’re replacing now.

A 27F Battery will fit in your 2017, but you will need the larger battery tray from a 2nd Gen Off Road (the tow package came with a 27F and the larger tray), e.g. get the tray from a 2015 Off Road.

I did the 2nd gen battery tray when I upgraded to the 27F Toyota True Start. My battery I replaced was 4 years old @22k miles and not an issue. I did this because I knew the battery was on borrowed time so to me it was worth it. Bigger more capable and better specs was the win. I think my struck starts a litter faster and easier, idk but maybe my battery was going bad.

Did the original battery hold down work or did you have to replace that too?

Yes it worked just fine. All I did was the OEM tray for a 2015 Tacoma with a the tow package. I think the tray was like 30 bucks however some people have cut the end of the 24f tray and it works as well. It was a clean, simple install. The new tray drops right in to the holes, lines up perfect.

Glad to help. It's a great little mod. I was in for a tire rotation and they check the truck over, the tech was kinda stumped when he saw it.
