I just discovered when checking under the hood that my battery holder had dry rotted and fell apart and as a result my battery was crooked and about to fall out of its holder. Looks like it also caused the ground wire to break away from the negative battery terminal. The truck was still running fine. What is the best way to repair the ground wire?

The best way will be to get a new cable made with properly crimped ends. Any automotive electrical shop should be able to do that quickly and not too expensively.

Last response to replace cable was the right one, Take the ground cable if you’re in a rush wrap some electrical tape around it and then heat up slightly the electrical tape up so it sticks together call it a day until you have time to replace the cable

Either make your own with a length of 6 AWG wire and two crimp eyelets, or go to your nearest auto parts store and get something like this in the $12 range: https://www.autozone.com/batteries-...sen-battery-cable-aa14-6l/1053261_0?rrec=true

Get a hard battery holder made out of steel, aluminum, or nylon. The rubberized ones will flex and cause the battery to shift. Something like this: https://www.autozone.com/batteries-...own/dorman-battery-hold-down-00598/898082_0_0

    I agree. Make your own.
The hold down on my truck is metal.
That doesn’t look like a factory hold down.

I would do as others have suggested.

Make a new cable using crimp connectors and bolt it to the terminal and the body.
