    Hi guys.

I've been looking into buying a skid plate for a while now. The ones online are a great deal but after shipping and tax it turns out to be quite expensive but still cheaper than making it yourself.

Since I worked in fabrication/engineering I decided to make my own and invest my time and money in the design/drawings so that these can be produced locally if I decide to.

The cost target is under 300 for a bare front plate. Not sure about hardware yet. Lead times would be around 2 weeks. I could take individual orders but prefer on doing groups of 3-4.

Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in depending on the outcome of my plate. I will be making transfer case plates once I finish this one.

    Preliminary design soon.

    :worthless:
I will have some pictures by next week hopefully.

    Thanks

Just focusing on skid plates right now. Barely have the time for that.
It's mostly a hobby / free time project for now.

I will have a mid skid for sure.
Just working on front right now. Mid is easier I think.

Not enough to have a build thread.
How thick? Only thing offered currently is 3/16. I'd prefer something more along the lines of 1/4

I was going for 3/16 but the one we bent up today is 1/4.
Going to see how it fits soon.

I can tell you if you did a nice 1/4” skid a number of people would be interested, around 15ish I think.

Did my LCA's on Sunday so not much progress.
Did a quick test fit last night. I will upload pics of the plate tonight. I'm in R&D prototyping stage.

Fitment looks good except for the front mounting I have a gap. I want to see what it looks like on a stock tacoma and then I will make some changes.
This will take some time since it's a side thing for me. Once its dialed in well be ready to go.
