In other news the shifters and console have finally found their final resting places. Thanks to @Qrtrtilt for sending me the pics while I was at work.

Make sure the floor is sealed really really good or hot air from the cases will be sucked up through the floor with the windows down. It will stink like gear lube and even worse over heat your cases if you are on a long trip with the windows down at highway speed.

Agreed. The amount of heat coming up from a open hole is enough to drive you nuts. Not to mention the road grime. I'll be using a combo of the old shift boot the triple shifter boot an aluminum ring Cnc cut to fit the new notched floor space. To seal up the hole. If not the shifter boot will inflate like kanyes head at 15 mph.

But as far as over heating the cases. That's a stretch. my first rig had triples and a flat belly. Completely covered in tunnel and belly pan almost zero air flow never an issue.:D

When i first installed the cases i was driving 8hrs to a wheeling trip and drove with the windows down for the first 2hrs and noticed gear oil pissing out the shifter base and the floor pan was so hot i could not touch it. I closed the windows and turned the AC on and noticed at the next fuel stop the floor pan was much cooler and no more pissing gear lube. I talked the guys at marlin and they confirmed that a poorly sealed floor and driving windows down will suck the hot air up through the floor and into the cab instead of around the case and out the back to cool it. Made sense, i sealed up the floor like a true hillbilly with duct tape, and later foil tape and the problem stopped.

I have since graduated to seam sealer and nutserts, and ditched the duct/foil tape and self tappers for my latest floor rebuild. Only took me 7yrs to do that LOL!

No doubt! I had a friend build a temporary pinion seal out of duct tape for a trail only truck and ran it for 3yrs, it worked pretty good LOL!!

As for the mess, these crawl boxes always seem to be leaking fluid at random times, making weird noises, stinking and randomly getting hot at odd times with no explanation. I used to freak out but im at the point where as long as the fluids not burnt and there are no metal chunks pissing out of it when i do my twice yearly fluid change, i don't worry about it.

I snap a few pics when I get this sealed up. I am sure jimmy will put together a hell of a thread when it's all done.

i think i read that you have the 4xinnovations hinges? on the site it says they are only good for trucks up to the 2000 model. have you had any issues with them on your 2001?

Which hinge are you talking about? I used to have their swing out hinge on my spare carrier but that's all. It's universal so there's no reason it won't work.
