Thanks! I've got a set of plates with your name on it - invoice inbound!

Update time! (Though not a very exciting one just yet...)
We're still working on the quotes to manufacture our mounts. Our efforts are focusing on delivering a complete cap and cab offering - and getting the mounts right is crucial to that undertaking. We may do a small run of LB plates in the meantime, depending on what a lower volume run looks like price wise. I'll post up if we do produce more LB plates in the meantime.

so just to keep you posted, when I sent the prints to barnburner, he noticed we should thicken the metal and have smaller hardware on the mounts V1

This really bothered me because it increased the overall height

So my overly perfectionist side got working and I found something pretty clever.

The bottom mount now has a weird shape with widening plate (otherwise I could not cut from 1" tubing), and the top portion is now 100% weird, but it works on design.

I was able to reduce overall height to 2.1in while beefing up to 3/16 metal and 5/16 hardware using a full size washer

the overengineering takes time, do it once, do it right.

Look at this baby, notice how the two "ears" of the top mounts are now not the same height...
Oh and it keeps full 90 degrees adjustability so you can use the mount for bed rails for a bed rack and pitch, roll and yaw adjustment.

Looking good. I definitely like the low profile look and function. I'm looking to bring my RTT down at least 3" maybe 4.
Thanks for update...still patiently waiting :D:frusty::thumbsup:

So getting those done won't be easy, I had 6-7 companies where I asked quotes
One doesn't take new clients, one doesn't do this type of jobs, one I need to remove the angles cut (possible if really needed) and 3 still waiting on replies.

My friend has an account with the largest one that doesn't take new accounts so I will get quotes but I'd rather wait to have 100% final design so I don't burn that bridge.

Laser plateplate cu is easy to find but tube is much more specialized market.

Pretty inovative. What side connects to the rail vs the Tracks on the cross bars? Is it safe to assume the part on the lower portion of the diagram connects to the tracks on the canopy?

You've got it - bottom on the track, top on the crossbar.

Followed a bit of the original thread. These are looking awesome!

I’m interested in one of these racks for my 1st gen. Not entirely sure what I’ll need though. Still need a fiberglass cap to replace the aluminum one I have, but I’m assuming I’ll need some sort of track system on the cap to use this rack (Thule, Yakima, etc.)? Or can it be attached right to the cap? Also wasn’t clear on what the differences were with the mount selections on the website. I may have missed an explanation earlier in the thread.

I’m unfamiliar with these types of roof racks and some of the terminology goes right over my head, so any elementary level explanations are appreciated. :D

Just read through the entire original thread.

Very interested in getting some LB sides and a cab rack.

    Any updates on this??

@Barnburner are you planning on making any more LB plates any time soon? I don't need the feet, just the plates.

@Barnburner What part of Maryland are you located in? I live in Delaware and was curious how close you were to me.

Sorry progress has been slow guys. I still have a few shortbed set's available, but timing on more longbed plates is to be determined. Let me get caught up with what I can answer in here!

You're exactly right - you'll need a cap with a track system. If you're still in the market, I'd keep an eye out for a cap with one installed already. If not, you can add a rack system yourself too. The Smittybilt mounts will work with most (all? Haven't come across one that isn't compatible yet) tracks out there. We are working on mounts that will ultimately be universal for both cap and cab mounting, but for now the Smittybilt mounts work well for caps. Hope that covers the basics, but shoot me any questions and I'll give my best answer.

I'm in Mt. Airy, right smack dab in the middle of the state. That said, I don't mind a bit of a drive to meet up!

Appreciate the update. Did more reading on my own and was able to figure most of it out. Not as complicated as I thought.

I should have everything else on the way so just need the long bed plates. Will keep waiting patiently for more news.

Damn, that is in the middle lol. I'm about 2-1/2 hours away. I was trying to save on shipping, but I won't save much.
