A question for you fart smellers, uh, I mean smart fellers.

I need to run several more wires through the firewall. The big grommet below and to the side of the Brake Booster is max'd out. I've already pushed several more wires and a small air tube through it and simply cannot add any more.

So the question is, are there any other grommets in the firewall that would be suitable for passing wires through?

And has anyone been brave enough to drill a hole and add a new grommet? If so, where exactly?

 

Theres another grommet on the passenger side that comes into the cab under the glove box. Not sure if that would be another option for you.

 

In this case, no. The wire/cables I'm running are a fixed length and have proprietary connectors on the ends. There is no way to make them longer.

Why do you have an air tube ftom the engine compartment to the passenger compartment? Or are you running the old "bourbon in the windshield washer reservoir to in-cab beverage dispenser via clear tubing" mod?

I have a pressure gauge for my air system.

 

I had an air tube for my boost gauge going through the firewall.

 

Funny everyone is talking about headlights now. I just disassembled all mine last night. Was super easy. I ended up going 300deg for 7 minutes. When I did 270deg it wasn't hot enough, my oven may not be accurate though. I'm gonna paint everything semi-flat black and install the morimoto kit I bought 50 years ago.

I have a spare set of headlights so I can take my time

 

Nice man, I actually toasted a lens one time when I set my oven to 310 so to me I would keep mine around the 260-280 mark. I actually just got a second set of lights for my GF's Xterra and some morimotos that I am getting ready to do a retrofit on which I hear they are quite easy. Having HIDs are a world of difference.

 

you place yours lense down? Keep your oven "on"?

 

Lens was up like how I did for a previous retro. The issue was the lens got baked too hot and started to burn/fog which is permanent and by the time I got it out it had already deformed. For me, I wont ever go into 300 again as this happened pretty fast (2 min).

 

Ill never buy another vehicle that doesnt have at least hids from the factory. After having hids, and now leds, halogens are just lame. When i go tdy and have to get these cheap rentals, the headlight output always make me laugh

 

Yea man HIDs ruined me for ever settling for halogen. It wasn't until I swapped out the GF's fogs for the moritmoto LED white ones that she started to complain how weak her halogen headlights were. Gonna have that shit fixed soon enough. Im glad I am pretty confortable with this stuff now a days.

Ha that's the easy part! Would you keep the buckets chrome for halogen? Obviously you couldn't paint all of your stuff unless you went projector. Worst case its 260 degrees for 8 min and see if that's enough, if not then increase the temp to 280. But if I remember right, the stock headlight sealant is pretty easy to loosen up.

 

Im going to leave the stock lights. I don’t want to have to switch back and forth. Hell I’ve got to remind be my led back up and tag lights now for inspection they won’t go back in either
