Does anyone know if there is more difference between the Bed Extender for current gen tacos and older ones? I found a used one i want to buy, but the brackets the guy has clearly were not made for 05-10 tacos.. they are some kinda metal angle bracket thing...

The extender however, seems just the right size for my truck bed ('07 4 dr trd off rd)... so i think if i get the right bracket kit it will be good to go.

Thing is, those brackets he has worry me, my guess is they are for the earlier gen tacos, which makes me wonder if the whole extender is also for the earlier truck model? could it be that the bed width of those tacomas is so close to the new ones?!

I would hate to get the correct brackets, and find the thing doesnt quite fit when they are mounted..

any insights anyone has would be super helpful!

I had a Toyota bed extender on my 2004 Tacoma.

When I traded the 2004 and bought my 2010 Tacoma I kept the extender so the dealer wouldn't get it. The extender works perfect on my 2010 with new brackets that I got from the dealer for around $35. The brackets on the 2010 are just bolted on after drilling into the metal on the end of the bed.

    Very easy to do.

So my answer is... the extender is the same, and I believe the extender's width can be adjusted, which I did not have to do.

Based on mine, I say get the right bracket kit and you are good to go...
