Check trdparts4u.com. They have great prices on new ones.

I remember seeing one or two in our B/S/T section.

And always...check craigslist. I found mine for $50.

its a shame you don't live in San Diego. Im selling mine for $40 without the hardware kit. A broken piece on it, but still very functional. Anyways, they do sell aftermarket extenders. You just need the right size.

links to come: Army Surplus Bed D-Rings Axxess ipod/aux interface Bed Storage Combi-locks Wal-Mart Tailgate savers Wal-Mart Floor Mats (mine came without)
Was doing some research on these as my boss GAVE me a Westin Bed X-tender minus the correct mounting brackets.
(he gave me L-shaped instead of U-shaped)

What I found out is that:
Bed X-Tender is made by AMP Research and marketed by Bestop, Westin, Steel Horse, AMP, AND Toyota OEM.
Hence you can buy ANY of these brands and get exactly the SAME thing, often at a much reduced cost.
In fact, the SAME bed extender is sold for all mid-size pickups AND the Tundra. So you don't even have to specify Tacoma...

Check out this SITE is one place where you can order said accessories, but more importantly you can download the INSTALLATION manuals.

Finally you can buy the mounting kit el-cheapo at Amazon
$8.36 and eligible for Free shipping if you get your order over $25. Price subject to change of course. This is the route I am taking.

Don't count out a Frontier bed extender if you can find one.. I took the one from my old 03 Frontier and put it in my 07 and it works great.

Have you givin it the ole.
Ima make it move even if it means a broken foot test?

Im wondering how much it would take to move it once in place?
Ya know if I tied straps to it would it move when I tightened them?

I think that yes, it could move. It has clamps that go around the tailgate end...which doesnt hit the paint btw...and then the way that it attaches to the truck is kind of like cables like the tailgate uses..here a previous write up on it for right now...
http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/product-reviews/19168-review-versa-gate.html I dont think that its gonna hold stuff in like the tailgate, but would work fine for camping stuff, hauling mulch, etc. I got it to be able to haul more when I go camping.

i just picked up a toyota bed extender, easy to install, works great, and you can lock it by running a cable lock thru the D-rings..
