Before I pull a wire threw the firewall I just want to make sure this will accomplish what I need. I am trying to have the lights come on as courtesy lights as I walk up to the truck but also be able to light if I switch the cargo light on. Will the green wire mentioned do both? Thanks

Green wire is tied to the cargo light switch. You'll need to tap in to the dome light circuit to do what you are asking.

I want to say the cargo light comes on when we walk up to our truck and it recognizes the key fob. I will have to check tonight. The cargo light is a 3 way switch off/door/on. So your set up won’t turn on the lights in “door” mode. Thanks for the info

Thank you to everyone who provided info on this thread! I recently installed a used cap on my truck and I wanted to connect to lights in the cap to mimic the cargo light. The elusive green wire was just the wire I was looking for. Special shout out to OP @mrkabc

I’m so glad that I found this community. I’m starting to think that the answer to any Tacoma question can be found here.

Long time lurker, first reply... I had bed lights installed by the dealer when I purchased my 2018 Double Cab in late 2018. The bed lights only work when I switch the rocker switch ON. I didn't realize they should be mimicking the cargo light until I was recently looking for a way to make happen and came across this post. The bed lights never turned on with the unlock/door opening. So I checked the wiring today, and it appears to be correct per this VERY helpful post. Any ideas why they wouldn't be working when the rocker switch is in the middle/Door setting? I'll be asking the dealer to check it out when I bring it in for my next service. Thanks! Mike
