Line-X is a spray in, correct?

I'm assuming if I go this route I pay to have it done. There appears to be a Line-X installation place near me about 20 minutes from where I live. Do spray in bed liner installations typically involve preparation or do they just spray in whatever you bring in, even if you bring in a rusty bed?

They will do some prep work but it depends on how bad your bed is

And yes it is a spray in bedliner. It's a little more than some but it's worth it

Cheers thanks for the info. Can spray in's be sprayed on in a way that offers permanent over-the-bed-rail coverage like some of the drop in beds have?

Look up monstaline, it's spray or roll and you can do it yourself. Im pretty sure most of the Bedline products are sold in DIY kits, but don't quote me.

Plastic bed liner inserts create rust due to trapped condensation.
Plus grind off the painted surface and help that process.

Spray in bed liner and ignore the inserts.

Spray in stuff is good. I have rhino liner in mine and it works great. It can and I think should be sprayed onto the bed rails a little. Unless you have a bed cover going on at some point in the future.
    That is a beautiful truck.

Depends on how much you want to pay. If you got the cash go to get a line-x for i think about 500 or $600 go for it. They may charge more since you have rust too.

Id recommend doing it your self. Sand it down with 220 grit and use corroseal (rust converter) on rusty spots. I personally use Herculiner from Lowes bc its gritty and 70 bux a can. Monstaliner is awesome but more expensive and has a smooth finish.

Either product can be rolled or sprayed at home. Monstaliner sells the schutz gun you will need if thats the route you choose to go. This route is not better than line x but its cheaper and once you work with the stuff you can always do your rockers bumpers or whatever.

Ive used both products in 4 beds and two whole trucks and have never had any issues for two years now.

I went a different direction so thought I would pass it on.

I had a bedliner, sold it as soon as I could. Trapped water and pine needles and other crap. I sold it on CL for $50. Loads would slide around (coolers, kids stuff, etc.).

I wanted a spray in but I'm not spending $500 bucks for it and this is a person who is spending $1300 on suspension. I knew I needed a bed mat as well (skid proof, stops shit from sliding around when hauling, soft on the knees) so the bed floor will likely not see much/any abuse with the mat. I sprayed in Rustoleum Bed Liner and its great for my use. That, coupled with the bed mat and the Relentless Tailgate Reinforcement is perfect for my application.

My father has an F250 and has Rhino Liner, no mat. He loves it and beats the hell out of it.

Line-x. They do all the prep work and are done in 2 hours. Makes the bed look nicer in my opinion.

My bed was probably similar to yours due to a drop in bed liner being in there for 14 yrs. No rust but paint worn down right into primer in lots of places as well as paint damage on bed rails from plastic rail caps. Went with Line- X and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. They prep bed as part of their price.

I had Line-X sprayed in mine about a month after I bought it new in 1998 (it was a little difficult watching them take 40 grit sandpaper to the brand new paint). It still looks great and it's the best investment I've made in the truck.

I've only had one one small gouge in it over the years: on the tailgate from a bad fork lift driver loading a table saw on a pallet into the bed about 5 years ago. I took it to back to a Line-X dealer to have it repaired, expecting to pay for it, but they re-sprayed the whole tailgate for free. It wasn't even the same dealer that sprayed it originally. The lifetime warranty is real.

I helped a neighbor spray in his bedliner several years ago using this product. As others have said, doing a good job in spraying in a liner yourself is the prep involved and conditions. Make sure there is no wind and the tempatures are within the tolerances of the product. Make sure you mask off the bed rails or the bed side depending on how high you want the bed lined.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TQIIPG/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8

It wasn't hard but the compressor I had to blow out the truck bed was small so the prep time seemed to take forever

X2......great stuff just use the bed liner gun as an air gun before you put the bottle on it.

I've had Line-X over the rail before. Loved it.

My 08 Tacoma has the factory plastic bed bolted in, with outlet and cargo rails, etc.. Anyone taken that out, and what's the bed look like without it?... like any normal truck bed? Can you keep the power outlet if you take the liner out or is that all pretty much tied together?
