Hey guys I have 3rd gen tacoma and looking to purchase a bed rack to be able to use a RTT. I'm seeing tons of different buying options. It looks like some options around the $600-$800. Tacoma beast has one for $580 bare metal and if I want to get a black powder coat it jumps to $825.

So 2 questions from my research is am I fine with $600 range bed rack for the most part?
Also if I purchase the cheaper bare metal option could I paint or even pay to get it done that would be cheaper than the $200+ price different in getting that included?

Make sure the rack has support bars. I have seen some fail while offroading because the weight can shift left to rite. I with i had a pic to show you what I meant.
You can buy some bed liner paint and spray it yourself.

I did mine with rustoleum bed liner. Its holding up ok. Lots of prep work to keep it from peeling.

It has 3 bars across, does that sound like enough support?

What kind of prep work? Want to make sure I do everything right if I go this way.
