Bed Stiffeners (Total Chaos)

    Hi all,

    Pretty sure I know the answer to this but....for the sake of checking all my bases.

    I just purchased a campershell (was installed)...however now I'm thinking about doing a rack and RTT.

    1) I know there are quite a few Tacoma fads out there, but how necessary are bed stiffeners in the presence of a shell and RTT?

    2) Can I install the bed stiffners with the shell clamped or do I need to go through the process again?

    2) Can I install the bed stiffners with the shell clamped or do I need to go through the process again? You can install them with the shell on and fully installed. Nothing needs to be modified to the shell to install them.

    Follow up for you: When tightening the stiffners, they won't bring the bed in tighter and misalign with the shell? That's my biggest concern.

    I never noticed any issues like that after the installation.
