Soo. I started with a 2016 Tacoma and sold it after like 8000 miles because I was dumb and got a 2WD.

So I went and got a 17 TRD OR 4WD. I have almost 7000 miles on this new one. Since day 1 the belt has made a minor squeak at idle. The other truck never did it but I pushed it off as cheap belt noise with the new truck.

The squeak is horrible now! I mean I can hear it in the cab with all windows up and no music on and can even hear it over music that isn't on that loud. I work 2 jobs and rarely get time to go to the dealership but did anyone else have this issue? I've been in a lot of mud and dirt but did it before this too.

Gonna stop by the dealer tomorrow and see what he says. It's only at idle..

Are you sure its the belt and not the high pressure fuel pump?

Don't think its a fuel pump as this sounds like a belt. Video is almost done uploading.. I'm on slow intranet atm.

I suppose you can always take the belt off and start it just for a few seconds to see.

Yeah its not my problem to deal with. More the dealership. But wanted to see what people thought about that chirp like sound. I never heard it on my 16 taco and this one used to be a lot more quiet than it is now.

If you Google Tacoma Fuel Pump Chirp it will give you several YouTube Videos that sound very similar to yours.

Pretty sure that is the HPFP making that chirping.

I have a 2017 4x4 TRD SPORT with about 5,200 miles and I have the exact same problem. I took it to the dealer this past weekend and of course my truck decided not to "chirp"...I also showed them a video I took and they said it's normal. I'm going to try another dealer and see what they say. $40k truck with an annoying loud chirp!

Try different gas, I switched to BP on the last tank and the noise is much quieter...might also be in my head but who really knows anymore.

Sometimes if you put a drop of oil on a belt it'll stop the squeak (if it's the belt). Otherwise it might be a tensioner or pulley that is squeaking. Or apparently the fuel pump?

Does it get louder when you rev it up?

Mines starts to chirp when it drops under 1000rpm or when I'm at a stop/light (idling). I also told the dealer that I've done some research and read that it could be the high pressure fuel pump and all I got was "don't believe what you read on the internet".

Usually if its the belt it will squeak louder when you rev it off of idle.

This is unfortunately as common as it is annoying. I suggest you do your research and if one dealership isn't more than helpful; take your truck to another. Also when my truck was having this problem I had to run it pretty hard.(like over 100mph)on the way to the service center. Got it chirping so loud that people browsing the lot were thinking twice about buying a Tacoma.

Deathdealer did the dealer fix your chirping? If so, what did they find?

    High pressure fuel pump bro
I got into a VERY heated argument with my service center manager Barry. Who would not listen to reason. But I never give up.

It figures they would tell you that, I still believe it is the HPFP causing that Chirping.
