Not coming from the alternator.. already checked multiple times.. and its the belt making the sound.. that's why it stops when I spray it with a shot of water, or soap it. Seems to have something to do with the water pump. That seems to be where the chirp and eventually full squeal is originating. Its either misaligned, or dragging or something.

Look behind the waterpump pulley with an inspection mirror. You'll see pink coolant coming out of the weep hole or past the shaft seal

You sayin that a bit of antifreeze may be getting on the belt over time causing the chirp and squeal?

no - he's saying if you see antifreeze at those points it is coming past the bearing to get there - meaning the water pump is toast.

Then is this causing a "drag" situation making the belt wear and squeal?

If the bearing is junk then yes..

I know this is a super long shot, but is your taco a standard? I had a different truck that I chased a belt squeak for a long time but to make a long story short I was changing my throw-out bearing and discovered my thrust bearing on the crank was wore out from being a city driven truck and my crank was moving causing the belt to squeak. I know a really long shot.

I'm almost 100% sure it's your waterpump. The 4.0 shares the same waterpump design as the 2.5, 3.0, & 3.5 on the Lexus & Toyota sides. 1GRFE, 2GRFE, 3GRFE. They all make an odd chirp, squeal type nose once the bearing is damaged. I've changed dozens working at the dealer. Remove the belt & the pulley from the waterpump, slowly turn the waterpump & feel for any notchy or crunchy feeling. You'll feel it if the pulley is removed easily.

Makes sense,, But the sound is from the belt. Not the pump bearing, but rather, the belt on the pulley because I can stop it immediately with just a light bump of soap.. or just a shot of water from a spray bottle... At any point on the belt.. That's why I'm trying to get clarification, because it sounds like what you are describing is a sound from the pump bearing itself, not just the belt. But if the pump is dragging and causing intermittent slip.. it still makes sense

seemed to be intermittent all weekend. worse when cold. Had to soap it multiple times. Going down the highway was became a full squeal at anything over roughly rpms.. But then eventually kinda quit. When I got home, 30 miles later,, no squeal, and couldn't induce squeal.

The belt dressing was a bad idea. It is not intended for use on serpentine belts. Before you replace the water pump buy some good carb cleaner. Clean ALL of the pulleys the best you can on the flat surface or grooves where the belt rides. Get a Gates belt. You can get one at NAPA but make sure it's Gates and not their economy line. I'd be shocked if this doesn't fix it. BTW the water pumps on the 4.0 last for ever.

balancer shouldn't have been wobbling either at only 60, but it was. But I agree, shouldn't need a water pump at only 60k . But I don't know what else to do. Went from fine for 8 months after I bought it.. now ive been fighting it for 4. new balancer, new tensionor, new belts every time.. cleaned with brake cleaner and degreaser and scrubbed multiple times. Still nothing works. The balancer was a Dormon brand. everything looked the same and what not, But ive already ordered an OEM balancer now to try, but it was doing it with the old balancer too, though it had a slight wobble, Which is why I thought it was causing abnormal belt wear. All I'm doing is throwin money into the air with it, but I don't know what else to do.. none of it makes any sense.. and seems like no one in the whole world has ever had it happen before.

OK so you are definitely covering all your bases! At this point I would try the Gates belt. For another $30-40 it's worth a try. I know they are top quality belts. Hope this helps
