It was release to a lucky "few" for testing.

Oh one more thing, his fully hidden kit was already developed. Only reason why he hadn't had the chance to release it is because of funding to manufacture the kit, and enough buyers to commit into buying them.

Look up his most recent feeler thread. Kit was pretty much ready to be manufactured, but funding was an issue.

Thanks again Adio, MUCH appreciated. I have gathered all in info I can and copied and pasted them into a Word file. I am SLOWLY understanding more and more about the mod. I still have to figure out a few things but am getting more confident that I can pull it off with minimal visibility. One thing that I was a little concerned about was cutting the cables to the right length. He mentioned at one point that you only have about 1/8" of room for error. That is a little scary.
You know as far as the money part of BenWAs venture, I might have been willing to back him personally on the project. I am by NO means a rich guy, in fact I am on a VERY limited income, but had I been able to meet him I bet we could have worked out a deal to get him started and Taco owners happy. Hell, he also could have just said "OK, all kits are sold pre-ordered and none ship until I reach a goal of $X". I bet he could have raised the money. We could have helped him by advertising on other forums and in our local Craig's List. Too bad. Oh well.
Thanks again for the info, it helps a LOT.

Same here, of course much credit goes to BenWa. Just wish more member(s) with their installed kit would share some info. I guess we're pretty much the only ones keeping this thing alive.

BenWa logged in today... Hmmm still no update?

Meh, if it was like the old Tundra's back window that slid down behind the seats it would be way better.

Seems like a lot to go through for that little slider the Taco has.

Tundra back window would be ideal, but I would really like to use my back window in my DC. So...... lets get some info how to make it or get these kits up for sale again!

So today I felt like getting myself into some trouble. I looked at the back f the DC Taco and figured the back wall looked easy to take off. After all, I have worked on 4Runners, Tundra's, Tacos, Camry's, etc. Anyway, I took the upper back seats out, then too the back wall plastic off. I own a 2013 Tacoma Limited 4X4. The auto-open-close kit seems relatively easy EXCEPT that on my model (the LTD), there is very little (if any) space to mount the motor assembly. This is one of the rare occasions where Toyota shoe-horned the parts into place. There is VERY little space between the metal back wall and the plastic interior finish to mount a motor.
I am attaching a couple of pics that I took of the back wall. The Toyota/JBL amplifier and subwoofer take up ALL of the spare space. I am going to keep looking, but this looks like a fairly easy job if there is room to mount the motor.

Hey guys, Thank you all for keeping this thread alive. I've been watching and patiently waiting for over 2 years now on this. I too have a DC and I want this BAAADLY. I had hoped for the hidden, but at this point I'll take the semi. I can install myself. Benwa, please give us loyal followers an update, some part numbers, or at least a nod of approval for someone else to carry the banner.

^^^X2. I don't need a hidden version. I'm ready to take all that plastic apart for a dual battery setup and subwoofer anyways.

Hi guys, I just wanted to update you on my progress into BenWa's project. Let me start by saying that I am not trying to take over this project, or steal anyone's thunder, I just want to try to figure a way to accomplish this project for those who want to attempt it on their own. That being said, I want to share what I found out today.
OK, I took another serious look at my truck today and also took apart the Honda Ridgeline regulator. I read through BenWa's original write up, and looked at my truck with parts of the regulator assembly. I have a MUCH better idea of how BenWa's system is setup to work now.
First, I would say that even if BenWa starts selling the kit again, I would not purchase it if you own a DC with the built in subwoofer/amp on the back wall. I am 99% positive that it would not fit into you truck in the suggested location. Like I said in my earlier post, Toyota really shoehorned parts/accessory doors up against that back wall filling every nook I cranny. Not to knock BenWa at all, his setup is sweet, I just cannot see the regulator fitting most spots with the shortness of the cables.
What I am going to try to do, is make longer cables that allow motor placement behind the rear corner plastic, rather than the back plastic. There is also a slim possibility that the regulator may fit in a small cavity I found near the floor right where the two pieces of back wall finish (plastic panels) meet, on the passenger side of the sub woofer assembly.
The other thing I looked at was if there was a way to make the cables more hidden where they angle in towards the window (where the white pieces are on the end of the Ridgeline track). I am thinking of two options to accomplish that:
    1) The white corner track clips that allow the cable to "slide" over them to make a 90 deg. turn, can be cut so that they sit flush with the wall on the Taco, rather than sticking out at an angle. I am pretty sure that this will work.
    2) The other option is to come up with another part to replace the white corner track piece altogether. I am still not sure how I would accomplish this, but plan on working on it over the next few days into the weekend.

I did go to the bike store today and bought some descent lengths of cable and cable sheath (this was BenWa's idea, I never would have thought of going to the bike store!). I also bought some other small parts I could end up using or may end up in the trash, but I am going to give it a try and will keep everyone posted.
    Thanks,
    Ken

Today I took a more serious look at the motor placement in my truck. I think came up with a solution on where to mount the motor so that it was centrally located and fit between the plastic trim and the metal back wall. As I mentioned in my prior post there is not much room anywhere to install the motor, but I think I found a solution (albeit somewhat drastic) but I think will work for my situation.
There is a strengthening "ridge" or part of the back wall that sticks out about 2" to strengthen the back wall. If you look at the attached photos, I decided to cut a cavity into that ridge to create a metal "pocket" to hold the motor assembly. The placement of the motor assembly DOES allow for room for the plastic panels snap back onto the back wall.
I cut the metal ridge using a Dremel tool and metal cutting wheel. I rounded off the sharp edges of the cut metal using the Dremel with a grinding wheel. The motor assembly just fits into the cavity, holding it securely but I still may add one or two brackets that bolt/screw to the body and bolt to the motor to hold it firmly in place.
My next step is going to be to figure out how exactly to mount a bracket to the window. Once I get a definite method figured out, I will post my progress.
Guys, as I said before, I am not trying to take BenWa's place or trying to one-up him. I am just trying to figure out how to do this project the best I can with BenWa's idea and the input of others like Adio. At some point I hope to have some pics and additional info posted to assist others that want to attempt this project.
    Thanks again,
    Ken

I used to work in a motorcycle shop and when we couldn't order a cable because it was no longer made we sent it to motion pro cables and they made it for us. If you finally figure out what type of cables you will need to get the system to work I'd call them for a proper cable. My 2005 F150 had a power slider in it, I never did get a good look at the system but it worked great. If you get this to work, I'm in.:)
