I've got a beretta, love it, but for a cc weapon it is a bit big.
It is accurate, easy to take apart and clean, has a large capacity and is a great design overall with low kickback. I bought it as my first gun and still feel I made the right choice.

The 1911 is still a great gun though and a lot of people swear by it

I second the CZ. Phenomenal gun. I have put quite a few rounds through the Beretta, Sig 226 , and CZ (all 9mm). The CZ SP01 was by far the most consistently accurate gun in my hands. I own a Sig 1911 45 which I also love to shoot. My wife bought the CZ SP01 and my Accushadow Custom is waiting at the gunshop for my NJ permit to arrive. The Beretta feels great in hand, and has similar ergonomics to the CZ 75B, (but the CZ feels like it has less recoil, and comes to center better) Not sure exactly how the guns differ in regard to center of gravity etc. The CZ is worth a look. I have never shot the CZ 45acp variants.

If we are going away from the two original guns I vote Sig P220 in .45. I have one and out of the box it's one of the best feeling/shooting guns i've ever seen. With a little bit of work it's my go to for everything.

What it comes down to is try them out. Not just hold them but actually fire them, change magazines, etc.

For me the 92 seems comfy at first, but trying to reach your thumb around the fat grip to operate the slide stop or magazine release may be difficult (I don't have small hands). Not to mention the safety is in a funky location.

Presenting them from a holster should be another thing to consider. The sights on the 1911 coincided with my natural point of aim when I would bring it up to the target. Any glock I've fired, the sights would be pointing way up.

Weight is a benefit to the 1911 IMO. It deadens the small movements you make that may hinder accuracy, and aids in reducing muzzle flip. That combined with the single stage trigger allows for faster, more accurate follow up shots. I once fired a Glock in .45 GAP and no matter the death grip I had, the recoil was so bad the shells would eject and skip off the top of my head.

Also, loading double stack magazines is a bitch.

    Some really cool shit
I've had the Kimber Custom Classic since 1997 and it's freakin' excellent. Never a problem. SO, last month I picked up one of these. Only have about 300 rounds through the breakin so far. No problems. Ultra Raptor II. I recommend a .45, of course.
