Best all around tires?

I have the factory trd off road wheels, and the guy who owned this truck must have never rotated them. The tires are worn in a way that causes nasty vibration at 65-70. What would you guys reccomend for a good, not too exspensive all around tire. Most of my miles are highway, but I'd like to not be helpless during some light off roading. Is it a bad idea to go up a size?

I'm really happy with my Cooper Discoverer AT3s. Tons of off roading and they have never let me down. Over 25k on them and not a lot of wear. Make sure you get the C load tires.

I had Duratracs before, they had nice grip but got really loud and two could not be balanced even with Road Force. They caused a nasty vibration.

I love my Firestone Destination A/Ts. They are a quiet but nice looking A/T that does great for light off roading as well as a lot of road travel.

I have 52k miles on my set and I would not be shocked to see these tires go at least 80-90k miles.

They also don’t cost an arm and a leg. I paid $900 for a set of 5.


I put about 25k miles a year on my truck and 95% is highway travel to and from work and my lake house.
I do mild off roading for hunting and fishing. This typically means some corn field travel in some mud/sandy areas.

The tires perform well in rain and snow and I put zero weight in the bed in the winter.

 

In 2014 I bought a set of Cooper AT/3's. After the rebate I had $480 in 4 tires OTD. I replaced them last Fall with 58,000 miles. They still had tread, and a lot of people would have driven them another 10K. But winter and hunting season was coming on and I wanted more tread. I also have the same tire in my F-150. The only reason I didn't go back to Coopers on my Tacoma is because I have a BIL who was able to get me a set of Pirelli tires for less money.

 

I've been using Goodyear Wrangler AT's on my trucks for years. I live in snow country, and back on an unmaintained road, and they're good. But they're quite acceptable on the highway. Not that expensive. I have never had reason to consider something else.

I also have Hankook Dynapro ATM tire in P265/75 R16. The last set I got they have changed the thread pattern and in my opinion look more like a street tire now. I had really liked the old thread pattern as it looked more aggressive. My next set of tires will be something else.

 

Yep, same here, really ticked me off. Last sets I had looked great, new ones look like street tire now. Had to order into discount and they stated they didn't know they changed the tires but they were the same SKU. They do ride good but just look terrible. Actually thinking about selling them on craigslist and going with the new Cooper AT3 LXT.

 

This is a great tire I ran these for years. Never had one complaint about them

I just ordered two Michelin Defender m/x2's. They seem to have good ratings and that's what was already on the truck when I got her. They have gone through a lot.

 

I really liked the Yokohama Geolanders I had on my Tacoma when I traded it in. The Toyo open country is a great tire as well.
