Most miles are highway.... Michelin Defender (aka MS2). Hands down best highway, rain, ice tire you will ever find.

I have a set of Load range C LT265/75R16 Cooper AT3's and god damn they are heavy, mpgs are down, kinda kicking myself for not going with some defenders.

X2. I just snagged some Michelin LTX Defenders myself and they are a welcome change from the heavy KO2s. Definitely looks more like a "grandpa" truck now, but I don't hang out at the mall much and could care less about about impressing fratboy Jeep drivers. :p

Especially considering the fact that I have a 4X2, the most hardcore "off-pavement" driving I expect to do will be forest service roads. These should be just fine for that, and they won't punish my spine and the steering components as much the other 95% of the time.

Woot that is what I ordered. It had the best reviews, it was pretty funny because when I went to see what my taco already had I was the same tire...so I thought "yeah must be the best"

I don't know if they make this specific tire in a size that fits our OEM wheels, but I give top marks for Michelin LTX M/S tires. My 2001 Dodge Cummins came with those (in 16") from the factory. I did some light off roading with them on several hunting trips, snow, mud... they did ok. I finally bought new tires at 108K miles - yes, 108,000 miles, only because the sidewalls were showing lots of small cracks, and I was about to go on another Colorado Elk hunt, and the road where we were going were extremely rocky, and I was afraid I might bet a blowout on the [original] tires. Even at 100+K miles, they still had close to 50% tread depth remaining. Needless to say, I replaced them with another set of the same tires.

    They were excellent highway tires.

I'm still on the OEM Goodyear Wranglers so far on my Taco, so I have no experience with different tires for our trucks (yet....).
