I really like the Nitto Terra Grapplers but they are crazy expensive.

I prefer ATs with good road manors. The LT Toyo Open Country AT2 Extreme is a favorite over here.

My buddy just put them on his 12' TRD Sport, we're going winter wheeling today, I have Pinned Hankook I pikes, so I may pop one haha.

300$ a tire for 16s here :( Canada sucks for tires, most of us have to buy 2 sets and it adds up with conversion and shipping.

Same reason everyone buys an iPhone. They are pretty and fuction good enough and they are pushed by dealers cause they have the best margine. Sipping is what makes a snow tire as well as plyability. Cant beat Yakahamas in the snow but probably get eaten quickly by rock. BFG most overated tire out there imho.

Front is just leveled on toytec spacers. I'll switch to 5100's one of these days.

I had Duratracs but they howled like mfers. Switched to K02's and much quieter with same snow performance.

I love my ST Maxx, they have been great in all conditions. My next tires will be ST Maxx again or STT Pros depending on peoples long term reviews of that tire. My mom, nieghbor, and a couple co workers have the Cooper A/T 3 on their rigs and have nothing but good things to say, but if you want an aggressive/tough AT get the ST Maxx.

ST Maxx looks like it would have poor traction on wet pavement. It also looks like it would be pretty noisy compared to OEM tires. Of course looks can be deceiving........but....

The only time I've had an issue with the Maxx on any surface was packed/frozen snow, basically a sheet of ice and I don't know of any tire that does great on ice that isn't studded. They are also surprisingly quiet for an aggressive tire.

    This.

I want to know as well. Can anyone chime in on the performance of the ST MAXX in the rain?

Just did, we have been having massive rainfall here in Southern Oregon. ST Maxx moves water pretty dang good and I have had no traction problems.

It appears that we share the same sentiment.

After much deliberation, I feel that the ST Maxx and KO2 are both decent tires. The slight redesign in the KO2 tread pattern does seem to make noticeable difference. If you do a side by side comparison between old and new, the tread is similar, but there is definitely a distinct difference between the two.

Now, I do want to reiterate that I do not have personal experience with the KO2 tires. They definitely have their share of bandwagon fans...brand recognition...whatever you want to call it. Are they overrated? Yes...to a degree. Are they decent tires? Yes. Are they the best?...probably not.

I think that we have to take peoples opinions with a grain of salt as most peoples expectations, overall experience, and actual use of the tires are fairly low/limited. What I am saying is that there is a degree of "tunnel vision" in most opinions and reviews.

With all that being said; I am still leaning towards the Cooper ST MAXX. My only concern being weight of the 10 ply tires. I am also considering the Cooper AT3, as the truck will be running on pavement most of the time. I probably hit the trails/go exploring 2-3 times a month....which is why I am searching for the best "all around" tire. Decent road manners with good off road ability.
