Horrible for towing. Would prefer the dually setup.

In all seriousness, one great thing I took away from this thread was that cushioned ball mounts of various styles exist --

I just had to change my rear diff oil after only 5K miles due to extremely hard service, towing a 300-lb road grader up & down a mile of dirt road over and over to try to smooth out the humps and dips in the road. Grader consists of 2 heavy steel I-beams connected by chains; they are constantly catching & jerking on every pebble, rock and rough spot -- it's a nightmare/worst case scenario for diff abuse. 100's to 1000's of small shocks probably pitting the hell out of my diff gears.

I'm going to get a nice cushioned ball mount & that will probably solve the problem completely & save me from having to replace the rear diff. Thanks!

Spend that $ 300 or whatever it is ,on a extra payment if the trucks not paid off.

Paid in cash…interest rates are way too high for financing.

She’s his cousin, get it right. What you’re thinking of is West Virginia.

Not doing yourself a favour by removing it. It just may save your plastic bumper from a very expensive Lo-impact hit from behind. Even a hit and run...

I am not criticizing you or your post merely noticed that in the picture the truck has a fifth wheel set up but the trailer is a gooseneck. Its possible I'm wrong but I am fairly sure I am correct.

This is very sturdy, useful as a step or for pull/tow. I have used it almost a year, and have yet to crash my shin on it, or the wife’s…

I see it all the time. It's easy to spot.

Most people who actually tow have an old 2" ball that's rusted to hell. People who have a trailer they actually care about have their ball slathered in No 2 axle grease and a rubber cap over it. Real smart people take their draw bar off when not towing.

But if you see the tri-ball with the fuck-you hook pointed straight up: that truck hasn't even crossed the UHaul parking lot.

I was gonna comment about this. Sure as shit, if I leave my hitch on, I will invariably brush my leg across and get grease everywhere. I'd rather bang a shin.

Almost all of my camping clothes have a grease mark just below the knee. :anonymous: I once ruined a shirt from slipping on gravel while pulling the safety chains.

Even when being diligent about putting a cap over the hitch as soon as the camper gets dropped, it's frustrating when a road trip includes a night exploring the town. :annoyed:

I actually have something similar and it's actually pretty useful. Plus I could always attach a recovery strap to it. You know, when I wanna be stupid lmao.

Can I mount one on the hood too just in case someone doesn't see the back of my truck?
