Sorry if this question has been asked before, but what is the best camping chair? By best, I mean most comfortable, yet portable and durable.

Does anyone have experience with either of these?

For really portable, check out chairs by Helinox.

It depends on the definition of "Camping" If you're using your truck for transportation, Go all out. I like rocking chairs. Alps mountaineering has a great one. I also like Lafuma chairs. Both take up quite a bit of space. As a comment before, Id get the Helionix as a mid-size packable chair. And if you want small discreet and perfect for backpacking, look at alps mountaineering weekender or the Crazy Creek seat.

Expensive, but made in the US, it should last your lifetime and more importantly, you can get in and out of them easily which is a particularity nice feature if you're a bigger person or you've had a drink or three. Sadly, I'm a poor and don't own one, a buddy has a pair of them though. Where space isn't at a premium, I have a folding wooden director style chair that I like otherwise I carry one of the nylon folders, which I actually hate because they're cheap and a PITA to get in and out of when you're cooking, drinking, etc.

Thanks all for the ideas. I should have clarified that I'm looking for camping chairs to toss in the travel trailer for camping. The Helinox chairs look neat, how are they comfort wise?

One costing about 1/4 of the ones you posted and just as comfy with a cup holder.

I bought my first Kermit chair in the 1980’s and still use it regularly. $ but well worth it

I use a Helinox Chair Zero for truck camping and kayak camping, very portable and comfortable. A kayak buddy uses the much larger Helinox Sunset Chair, very comfy.

Only thing to remember with some of these like the helinox zero is they’re for backpacking so they’re going by to be really low to the ground.

We have two of the Savanna chairs by Helinox. They’re freaking amazing. They’re also VERY expensive. Personally I think they’re worth the investment because we travel and camp a lot. Their size, comfort, and portability make them the very best. Price is the only negative, but I like to think buy once, cry once. You never regret having the best. My advice would be to find somewhere that has them and sit in them all if possible.

There’s 4 Savannah chairs in that picture, my buddy and his wife who we travel with for weeks at a time fell in love with them as well. His main issue was space was so precious in the Jeep he almost couldn’t fit any other style of chair. Note the Reflectex mat laying over one. What a huge difference that makes on a cold morning.

It'll sit somewhat lower than a regular chair. If you're using a camper, it'll allow for quite a bit of extra space. If you want something that'll sit at a picnic table or folding table you'll definitely want to fo bigger. The alps mountaineering you posted isn't too bad. Just keep i mind the mor features yo add the more likely something will fail. I like the idea others put out about the kermit chair. Good warranty's make a big difference.

Lots of difference between a backpacking chair (Helinox) and a truck camping chair. You pay extra for a lightweight chair for backpacking, and there are no weight requirements for a truck camping chair.

I bought three Front Runner Expander Camping Chairs w/ the storage bag ( for storing in the garage when not in use) . Great reviews online/youtube and seems durable (about to use them this weekend), quick set up and take down and takes up relatively little space. They also have great customer service if you have problems.

Yep, this is what I have. It's sturdy as hell and stows decently small. A side benefit is that the carrying bag doubles as a firewood carrier.
