I have decided to put off my bumper so my friend wants to help me get something for my truck! Cool right? :D

Thinking of getting a double dim touch screen since I found this thread http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/au...-interface-2006-taco-4d-4wd-jbl-swi-jack.html I can still make my factory controls work!

    AWESOME!!!!!

So what is a good double dim? I would like it to have back up camera capabilities. Maps then whatever else.

Not looking for something CRAZY awesome just nice.

I currently have the JBL system with 6 disc hoping to sell the factory radio for some change to put towards my new one.

    Thanks for any help!

P.S. I have been looking and found one at a pawn shop of all places think it was a JVC it had google maps thought that was cool. It was 400$

Its DIN not dim. Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN; in English, the German Institute for Standardization) is the German national organization for standardisations.

What features do you want in your head unit?

Ipod control capable? Audio or audio AND video?
DVD Player? 5.1 surround or just stereo?
Bluetooth handsfree? The ability to stream music fromyour phone via Bluetooth?
How important is GPS? Live traffic?
    EQ? How many bands?
    Crossovers?
    Time allignment?
    Need to read USBs?
    3.5mm jack?
    HD radio? Sirius/XM?
touch screen? slide touch? multi touch?
    Voice control?
Ability to run seperate audio/video for the back for DVDs for kids?
Preout voltage? 2-5 Volts is the spread for almost all the units out there. Higher voltage means less gain and less chance of amplifiing interferance.
Balanced differential outputs? Only important if running unshielded twisted RCAs with balanced inputs on your amp.

Cool thanks thought they called it dim.

    Ipod controls would be nice.
DVD eh not really a big deal
    Bluetooth would be cool.
GPS is a must, life traffic not so much
EQ not rally way into it just basics
    Crossovers?
    Time allignment?
3.5mm jack not big deal long as i have Ipod hookup
    No need for HD radio
    Touch screen
    No need for voice control
No need for separate audio video
    Dunno about the last two

    So must haves
    GPS
    Bluetooth
    Ipod
    touchscreen

Im very happy with my pioneer AVIC-Z1. But I have read that the AVIC-Z110BT is really good.. you dont need addons like you did with the Z1.

I can do volume and station/track change on the left... I still have not got my right to do the bluetooth. It wont do the voice button but you can program it to do whatever else you might want like go to menu etc. Just dont expect your right side steering wheel controls to work with the SWI JACK. I will update if I get it to work. Other seem to have made it work.

Look at the Metra Axxess to get you controls to work on both sides, you will still have to do a manual program but it works good.

I did X920 system, works great would have gotten a Kenwood if Amazon would do the same coupon they did for Pioneer.

I've got the Pioneer AVIC-X920BT and I like it. DVD, iPod playback, navigation, and bluetooth. Great system and I believe there still may be a $100 rebate going on.

Sorry I will post more and give you a review later (have to work now). All I know is it works great so far. Bought off ebay for $210. GPS works well, iPod works well also but wish it had more functionality. It seems you have to scroll thru songs alphebetically or choose on your iPod what you want to listen to first then plug and play. The bluetooth function will find your phonebook in your phone and link it on the screen so you can just scroll thru the numbers on the stereo screen and choose who you want to call on the touch screen display. It will also play music you have on your phone although it doesnt seem to pull up the song names but it lets you ff or rwd and play thru whatever is on the phone. It may just depend on your phone. The dvd is great and the screen is clear. Plays movies nicely. Im still learning all the functionality of this thing. I will update with more pics and info soon.

Here is the place I bought from with info about stereo. remeber it aint no jvc, pioneer, or some big brand name but it seem to work for my purposes. if your looking for booming sound you might want to look for the high end stuff. I just wanted something to play movies, gps, and ipod hookup. sound quality is okay 50w x 4 but I am now looking to upgrade my speakers to see what difference it makes. I will try to post more pics and possible video of it in action:
