Bilsteins 5100s on the top setting, 4runner Gray TRD Pro Sema wheels, 285/70/17 Toyo AT3s, Sumo Bump stops, TRD exhaust, ECGS Clamshell bushing, 1/4 shim for the lean and one inch rear block, OEM Pro grill and garnish OEM TRD Skid plate, TRD CAI, Demon Brackets, Rigid Industries Pro fog lights, OEM Trail Rails sidebars, Diode Dynamics LED SL1 high and low beam lights, OEM Roof racks, Clazzio leather heated seats, Remote Start, TRD Pro shift knob, tinted windows, Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp for the headunit and sub and amp combo, OEM Puddle lights, OEM tailgate lock, OEM bed mat, LED interior lights, OEM blackout kit for letters, JLT catch can, upgraded 27F toyota True Start battery, Vleds led tail light kit with Pro tail lights, OEM Rave4 side mirrors with convex spotters, just to name a few mods.
My Son's runs a Flowmaster 50 series and its deep sounding, somewhat quiet until full throttle and no drone. I love the sound but as I'm older now the TRD exhaust is perfect on my longbed. My Cousin's new Pro sounds a little throatier than mine but I think it may have something to do with the pipes being a little longer. Now at full throttle or 3/4 mine sounds a lot better because of the RD CAI and I think the KDMAX tune may have something to do with it.

I would definitely recommend watching a bunch of YouTube videos on exhausts for your truck. Even though video won’t give you the full picture as far as sound at least you’ll be able to weed out the companies that make a system that has a tone you don’t like.

Man this thing is no 4runner! (My wife has a 2023). I am kinda regretting not just spending the extra cash and getting another one of those!

Has anyone ever grafted a 4Runner exhaust onto a Tacoma!? LOL.

I picked the FlowMaster Flow FX because of the videos. The interior resonance was at 102db going up the hills near my house and would also peak at 58-75mph. Regular driving.

I have the Borla S type and I might be in the same boat as you... I'm seriously considering taking off and going back to stock. Although, the S type really doesnt have much drone. Its just a bit loud for me

How about headers and exhaust both sides? Sure wish I owned an aftermarket Tacoma shop!

3rd gens dont have need for headers, its one large port that bolts to the head. Pretty much all cars use this now.

OK, have a weird $50 fix for my FlowMaster Flow FM drone. I added a thrush turbo inline and only had to do some minor pipe trimming to work it in. Has a low mellow tone but not louder than stock. Best part is the mpg seems like it’s getting a boost with the high flow. I’ll update after a week of driving it.
I seriously thought about just putting on the FlowMaster Super 50 but this was more economical. Yes, I know this is a horrible bastardized system but interior sound is at 55db and when hitting the big hills I am at 63db under load, and exterior is 79db when revved to 3500-4000 rpm but sounds much deeper than stock and no longer have resonance in the cab.

recently seen a pretty good video on the magnaflow. also done the rare independent dyno run where he seen +5whp gain through the curve. (which yes i know is negligible between run to run but it also shows there was no power loss)

Did you have it welded on or clamped? If clamped what additional parts did you require? TIA

The Borla comes with everything you need to clamp on in the box. That’s what I did with mine

I had to get mine welded on. My clamp had been damaged during a previous camping trip.

How would that compare with the AWE exhaust?

    Thanks!

I had a flowmaster aftermarket for last 3 years, got tired of the noise. So I went down to a local muffler shop and paid them to cut out and weld in an OEM compatible MSL factory replacement. Way better, and much quieter. Same gas mileage as before, all good. I should have kept my original stock. I’m old!
