I'm always surprised at the number of mpg posts on here. We drive trucks. Done. I have a motorcycle and a scooter that get great gas mileage. My truck doesn't. I expected that when I bought it.

Well that's true but unlike air, nitrogen doesn't permeate. And yes it's free in the tires as long as I have them, but I don't plan on getting it when I have to buy a set of tires, i'm sure it's not cheap and they're aren't alot of places that even have the equipment to put nitrogen in tires where I live.

Toyota has already done everything they can to "untruck" these vehicles in the name of fuel economy. It's to the point where anyone really needing a truck has to undo much of what they have done. They come without bumpers, they have high gearing, plastic beds, light duty everything. For most owners now a truck is just a fashion statement. It's a lot harder to accept your fashion statement costing you money to operate. Those of us who use our trucks have an easier time justifying the cost.

I'm amazed at the amount of idiots who spend 30k on a truck and never look at real life mileage then come on here and bitch about it when their on road driving doesn't meet the window sticker. I guess no one knows the window sticker MPG's are NOT calculated on road with headwinds, hills, or any other real life scenarios.

Luckily America has so many idiots that the Fed is changing the way window sticker MPG is formulated so now even the idiots will no longer have an excuse for not doing some research before making a $30,000.00 purchase.

To OP drive slower. If you getting horrible mileage that means you are going to fast.
Out trucks are bricks on wheel, if you drive too fast they will burn a lot of fuel. I keep my speed at 55 MPH and get constant 24 MPG in summer and 20 MPG in temps below 50 F
I can justify car - I need 4x4, need to tow and need to bring items from Home Depot. So if I buy a car that gets 30 MPG I will have to spend money on rentals every time I need to bring sheet rock. If truck is only DD I would say go for something like rav4 if you need 4x4.

The sticker says 18/20 for mine. I get a little better than that with winter gas and a little bit better in warm months.

I can get a little worse mpg if:
    - I keep it over 70mph for a long trip
    - use low gears 4x4 for many miles

You think gas is high. In Penticion BC (cdn)gas is 134.9 a litre. A gas station in Washinton just south in the Usa is 97.4 cents a litre. Now someone please explain that to me? 37.5 cents more a litre from stations that are just a couple of hours from each other is ridicious.

    The Dust Bowl
British Columbia gas tax 36.45 cents/liter (about $1.50 a gallon)
Washington gas tax 47.5 cents a gallon

Edit: I lived in the PNW for a decade; Canadians are a huge part of the economy there, as I suppose Americans are to Canada (I know that I went up to BC a lot). North of Seattle you can pretty much use Canadian and US coins interchangeably at most of the smaller stores. Even as far south as Portland most convenience stores won't balk at receiving the occasional Canadian coin. The shopping center and gas station parking lots in Blaine are always full of BC tags.

I've found, through extensive research, that my truck gets the best possible MPG while on the back of a flat bed truck thats going downhill with a tailwind..... other than that nothing else i do seems to amount to shit, most have something to do with the fact that I DRIVE A PICK UP TRUCK, i think

    It does.

The molecule is only slightly larger than oxygen.

And "air" is 78% nitrogen... so 78% of the "air" in your tires will not permeate any more than pure nitrogen. The nitrogen in air is not chemically or molecularly bound to anything... it's simply N2, same as what the tire shop is (hopefully) pumping in.
Around here practically everyone is offering it. Some shops include it for free, some charge as much as $40 more for it.
Not too many shops actually have the membrane system for producing it, most just have K-bottles shipped in.

Yeah, I guess the negatives outweigh the positives on that mod. And look on the bright side, you're not calculating the fuel milage of a short bus, or miles per charge on a mouth operated electric wheelchair.:cheers:
