Wow, if the videos on the Royal Purple website say Royal Purple is the best, there is just no reason I can think of to doubt that claim.

i try to stay away from mobil 1, when i had my wrx and was actively on the forums it seemed every time someone blew up an engine they were using mobil 1. Maybe not the cause but it was nearly 100% of the time

i usually go with castrol or q synthetic

my castrol syntec 0W30 seems good. The guy I bought my truck off of said he had sent samples of the used oil after mobil1, and the syntec 0W30, and the syntec tested better hands down. Apparently the 0W30 syntec is the Castrol "German"...made in Germany unlike all the other syntec oils, and it only comes in a 1 litre bottle. If you look at the bottle, you will see the 1 litre bottles of 0W30 say made in germany, all others USA.
I have the testing lab print outs somewhere...I have only changed the oil once since owning it, and I'm sticking with castrol 0W30 "german"...

I've been using Royal Purple for the last few changes, but I'm gonna start using Quaker State now.

    http://www.quakerstate.com/

They have a program where, if your vehicle was made within the last 72 months and has less than 75,000, you can start using Quaker State oil and they will warrant it up to 300,000 miles! Plus, if/when you make it, they will give you $5,000 or KBB value! More details in the link.

Most people (I say 99% or more) will either sell their truck before 300K miles, will not reach 300K miles in 20 years or will just plain forget about this. They know that, and that's why they offer it. I say forget about it, and buy oil based on what's the best deal. The "warranty" is a joke. It says "... that it will repair or replace, at its option and at its expense, the engine parts listed below, that fail on account of engine wear or which experience abnormal wear, because Quaker State® motor oil failed to provide proper lubrication."
"because Quaker State® motor oil failed to provide proper lubrication" is the problem. They will take a sample, analyze it, and proof that way that it was not their oil that caused your engine failure.

I couldn't care less about the actual warranty itself. I plan on taking care of this truck and having it for a long time. If they're gonna offer something like this, I say "why not." Motor oil isn't THAT big of a deal (as long as its still synthetic), so I figure I'll switch, keep up proper maintenance, and shoot for 300k. At least I have some sort of goal to work for to make it worthwhile.
