I have a 2007 Tacoma that needs new front brake pads and rotors (and possibly calipers :-/). Looking for input/suggestions for good replacements on a budget. Not looking for the best, but don't want junk either. Thanks in advance :)

I ordered parts from JC Whitney yesterday during a cyber Monday sale and got 20%off plus free shipping. It was already delivered today. No comment on the brakes yet but I got centric rotors and semi metallic pads. Great service so far!

Welcome to the forum. Another female owner of a Tacoma is always welcome. For your Taco if you have a budget and need your parts right away, then Autozone will be your cheapest place to go. If you do not need them soon, then go to Rock Auto on the internet and choose the parts from there. Do you plan to do your own work or will someone be helping you ?
There are posting on here that will help you when you plan to do your work. Good Luck.

Best bang for the buck would be centric products, check out tirerack.Com for loaded caliper options

    Welcome.

I usually go with the medium grade pads. I prefer that the brake pads wear more than the rotors. At least OEM on rotors and calipers if needed.

Calipers? Why? I see you have the TRD Sport, those rock the fixed calipers. What more you think you need you need new calipers?

As far as brakes go, budget (Autozone, Advance Auto, Napa) will work fine. I currently have pads from Advance (Wearever Gold). There are plenty of other threads on 'High Performance' setups if you are looking into that route. My ideal setup is Hawk LTS pads with Centric slotted rotors (not drilled).

Yes the oil change is pretty easy on our trucks. Here's some links for you.
    For V6 4.0L read here.

    Yep :)

I don't know that "fixed is the correct terminology, but they are definitely not the floating design like the average car uses.

Actually. That's what they should have. Then again, I have a 12 and things have changed quite since then. What kind of calipers does yours have?

Several different brand options available, as many have noted. My professional input here is that no matter WHICH brand you get, buy the "ceramic" ones. Not the "semi-metalic", or "organic". The ceramic pads dissipate heat better, and have better stopping force. Those are the ones I recommend to all of my customers, and every one has come back saying how much they like them. Plus, ceramic pads do not leave that ugly brake dust on the wheels.

Yes, we have fixed calipers. The caliper itself is hard-mounted to the caliper mounts. Since we have two inner and two outer pistons to apply brake force, the caliper must be fixed or "secured" to a hard mount location.

Not exactly cheap but I've had good service from the powerstops I put on my 07 Prerunner and the ones I put on my daughters quest. Amazon had the best price for the quest, rockauto for the Prerunner.

When I had the brakes checked (at a dealer) , that's what they said. I know for sure that I need new brakes... I can feel it. My ex brother in law is going to replace them, so if it turns out I don't need them, they won't be replaced.
