Best phone mounts for Tacoma

I have the Panavise in my truck, and it's amazing. Perfect placement, out of the way, doesn't interfere with the passenger or any controls or vents. It's screwed in behind the vent controls so I never have to worry about it sagging or falling down. It's not the cheapest mount, but I've put them in several vehicles and never been disappointed.

 

I've probably had this mount in my truck for at least 5-6 years. Love it.

 

The last set I bought for my other half's Subaru I got directly from Panavise's website. I think Amazon sells them as well. You can buy just the bracket, or bracket and mount. I think I paid $70 last Christmas for both.

 

I had just decided that was going to be my best route as well. I didn’t want to put holes or sticky goop on the exterior of the dash. Sitting in my truck and had a bright idea that led to this. Used the phone holder from a dash mount and used aluminum flat bar to mount to the insert my cup holders fit in. So far it works pretty well. Very stable.

 

I like the ingenuity but I value my cup holders too much. Even if there are 11 total in my truck (which is freaking amazing in itself).

 

Cup holder is still there. It slides back in. It’s full of receipts and crap.

 

I haven’t seen anyone else with a set up like this before so I thought I’d share my solution for a second gen. Parts are curved 3M Go-Pro mount and a SP-Gadgets adjustable phone mount. The set up works really well and no drilling or screwing needed. I live in Hawaii and the heat doesn’t affect the 3M sticky. I payed around 25$ for all the set up.

 

^this. Super easy, and bomb proof. Hardest part was finding the add a fuse for the Tacoma atm type fuse. I used an add a fuse to a voltage regulator that added 2 permanent USB charging ports under my dash. Charging cable from there inside the pillar to the ram mount.

 

Besides the panavise itself, what other components are pictured? Looks like a base plate and phone cradle. Are they both panavise products, or some other company? Also, does it swivel?

+1 on the Panavise, very sturdy and out of the way. For the gps I use a CD slot phone holder.

 

What phone cradle are you using? Does your setup swivel? Thanks!

 

I have a Panavise mount + Proclip (for iPhone Plus, 11, and Max sizes) holder assembled for sale. It's sitting on my dining room table. I'll go through the motions of posting it if anyone is interested.

 

Yes it swivels, I'm using the phone cradle that came with the cd slot phone holder. I purchased the ball mount separately that connects the cradle to the panavise. Sorry I don't remember where I got the ball mount from.

 

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at a panavise swivel (685-PM AMPS Tipper) and their phone cradle. Going to wait until the actual in-dash mount comes in before pulling the trigger on anything. Your phone cradle looks better than the one panavise offers. Thanks again.

 

I have a rokform case on my phone so it has the built in magnet so I ordered their small magnet and attached it using double sided 3M tape. I have a iPhone 7 and the only thing it blocks is partially the hazard button. I like it because I can hop in the truck and practically toss the phone on it and it sticks. It’s perfect imo, it’s in the right spot so I don’t really take my eyes off the road. I also have the panavise mount for my ham radio and it is a little further out of view than the phone. I prefer where the phone is at compared to the ham radio.

 

I looked at the RAM mount but I don’t use my phone holder that much to be worth while. I found this CD player mount to be perfect! It’s sturdy enough to hold it while off-roading too. Uses a magnet superglued to my phone case

 

I’ve been using this mount in my GMC 2500 for about two years or more now. Love it in my work truck

tried it in my Taco today and so far I don’t like it. Can’t use the phone as it’s positioned (I can maybe tweak that part of it some by adjusting it) and it seems to be in the way. Shifting and just generally feels in the way.

might try it a couple more days..... I like the A pillar mount but I don’t want my phone facing my passenger and it doesn’t seem to be easily used while driving there

 

How do the CD player mounts do as far as phone shake?

 

Cant tell on the highway, you can read directions and gps like normal
