I am in need of doing this upgrade and am having a hard time finding them in stock anywhere. This for a 2004 Ex. Cab 4x4.

    Any ideas for me?

    Thanks much!

I like my CBI plates. As I recall, they don't list them on their web site any more for 1st gen, but if you call, they've got them. $80, I think. @CBI Offroad Fab

Nope, but with a RTT and bed full of gear, the rear end of the truck feels like it flexes around a bit and I don't like it. Also working on building a Wilco style tailgate,
so that will only exaggerate the problem. I can weld fairly well, but do not have a plasma or cutting torch to make such intricate cuts...easier to get something already
punched out if they are still available. Am finding that some vendors are phasing out their 1st Gen stuff...much to my dismay.

Interesting; I actually do have a bed rack, RTT, and Wilco tiregate and don't experience the flex you're referring to.

I haven’t personally installed this on my truck yet but I know you have to change the upper shock mounts. Everything you need comes in the kit. And yes I believe you lose factory tire storage compartment.

This is method is completely boxing in the C channel frame. If any of that would be a deal breaker for your application then the outer overlay method would be for you.

You'd be amazed what you can do with an angle grinder and hole saw.

It looks like that is exactly what this kit is meant to do. I'm sure you could make some mods to it to keep your stock shock mounts, but you might as well got for one of the kits that welds to the outside of the frame so none of that is necessary.

To be fair (Letterkenny anyone?) I think mod for mod it's a bit more affordable for the 1st gen. But mod options are evaperating in favor of more popular gens.
