I have a Viper 5204 LE Responder in mine. I believe they have been superseded at this point with a more modern version.

I paid $499 installed for mine in December of 2012. I have a single 2-way remote and a spare 1-way remote. The range is quite impressive and I have had zero issues with it. I'm also glad that I have a dedicated alarm now unlike the OEM keyless entry only.

That being said, the remote is a bit sensitive and the battery life isn't great. I'd install again in a heartbeat.

I had a viper on my scion and it was awesome. I would be in the hospital and able to start my car.

I don't know about the best but IMO, the best bang for the buck are Autopage alarms. I have the autopage rs730 with remote start and it has never failed me. I use Autopage in all present and past vehicles without fail or issues. The rs730 has a lcd key fob that is a long range remote with more options on it that I dont care for such as interior temp check or auto start time. Cheaper than higher end brands like viper. I paid about $350 installed 4 yrs ago.

I love Viper alarms. They seem to have the most features for the money. I have ordered a Viper 5706v to install in the 2014 I should have in a few weeks.

I just put an Avital 4303 remote start / alarm in my truck, works great and got it for $105 on Amazon. Made by the same company (directed) that makes Viper. I love the 2way remote since I can't see my truck from my office window, let's me know it actually started.

Just had a Viper 5706V installed last week and love it. Had an older version in my old Tundra and the quality of the remote is so much better. I always felt like I was going to break the remote. The new 5706v is much smaller and has a metal casing which makes it feel much stronger.

I had a Viper 5806 installed in my 2013 Taco Double Cab Full Bed, and it works fine - except for one thing...

When using the key, and headlights switched on, removing the ignition key and opening the door turns of headlights.

But when using the Viper remote start, then allowing it to time out (15 minutes) or shutting off the engine with the remote, the lights stay on. They will stay on until the battery drains.

Is this normal? It means I had better get to my truck if the remote starter times out, or my battery will run out in a few hours.

That needs to be wired with a relay to the door pin so that won't happen. Should go back to the place you got it installed and have them take care of it.

My old Viper in my Tundra did that. I just was used to switching my lights off before I got out each time.

I have the AVITAL remote start, it came with 2 keyless buttons, cost $289.00 installed. Works great. I can turn my truck on really far away. If you don't turn the key. As soon as you push the break pedal the truck will shut off. Mine is set to run for 20 min. It also got rid of the lock sound, which I like that it doesn't work. My lights flash when I push the remote start.
