Happy with mine. Haven't done anything other than some trails on one of my hunting property with them. Only issue was having to drill the frame due to the holes being off by a few mm on both sliders for the part where you box it into the frame with the two rectangular pieces.

So I'm going to make some rock sliders mainly because I more of a built not bought type of guy. So here's my question:
-what size DOM tube are you guys using
-does anyone have any pictures of how they are bolted to the frame? Thanks!

How cool would it be if TW won the Nobel prize in physics for advances in slider design? Quit laughing... it could happen.

Yes, got them painted up and mounted last weekend. Went pretty well with minimum drama. I love the way they look and they are really solid.

What is the best slider to act as a step AND protection off road?

Probably Apex ones like @SqFt has in the post above your's, since they're filled in and not just steel bars

Almost any of them. There's trade off between being more of a step and more performance on the trail. As the sliders become more useful as a step, you give up clearance.

Actually with the c4 slider you get more clearance seeing how it's at a 25 degree angle but the step is still flat best of both imo ordered a set will post pics once install they look awesome

So forgive my ignorance as I'm new to the off-road scene. But what exactly is the difference between sliders and running boards? Are sliders just made from a better/harder steel?

Running Boards bolt to the bottom of the cab and are used as steps to get in. Rock sliders are made of steel and are either welded on to the frame or bolted on using plates that attach to the sides and bottom of the frame rails. They're meant to protect the entire rocker panel from damage off road and can support the weight of the truck. Where if you hit running boards they're going to most likely crumple into the rocker panel causing even more damage.

Thanks for the shoutout, excited to see pics of your new sliders on your Tacoma!
Our sliders combine both features and function great as both. Our step plates are designed to sit flat to easily be used as a step while the slider itself still slopes up at 25 degrees on the outside to offer the high clearance you expect from a slider. Its the best of both worlds, no other company offers one like it!
This is not necessarily true, our slider design offers both features in a very useful and functional way.
Good quality craftsmanship is worth paying for! Also you are protecting the rocker panels of your vehicle from damage which would cost a lot more than a grand to fix!

They are welded at 10 degrees. Meant more as a REALLY strong step.

you guys should check out Cruisin Offroad in Chilliwack BC. Just had him install a set of sliders on my taco here yesterday, fantastic quality and build. They look great. Here is his website (http://www.cruisinoffroad.com/sliders-tacoma.html#top) and with the USD to CDN conversion these days they should be a steal for our southerly friends IMG_5886.jpg IMG_5887.jpg

Very interested in these. Trying to stay local. are they true "bolt on"? without having to drill my frame. and what did they end up setting you back$?
