Well if the flotation in your avatar is any indication of the rest of the boat........it must be a rocking boat.

"HD" to me means "High Definition" as in HDTV--on what frequency are the weather updates to which you refer?

The NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) transmitters operate at seven frequencies, 25 kHz apart, between 162.400 and 162.550 MHz. One quarter wave for 162.450 MHz is 18.17" so that or 9" (1/8 wave) would be optimal. If you are close (20 to 25 miles) to a NWS transmitter--there are 1000+ nationally--antenna length becomes less critical...

They're just digital signals being sent via traditional radio frequencies, the weather comes via the weather channel over the same radio, but it's not like an NWS broadcast, just a widget on the oem radio that displays temp and weather it's sunny or not

Ah--that... Digital signals are quite tolerant of signal-to-noise ratios that would be unlistenable for any audio program. Experimentation would be the best way to determine what antenna lengths work. A telescoping antenna from an old TV/radio/etc fitted with an M5 stud can be used to play with different lengths...

I just let my stock antenna smack the garage door and wobble for a minute whenever I go in and out. *shrug*

I like my stock long antenna, at idle it shakes and makes it look like my truck has a 3/4 race cam, like my big rat chevelle....woo hoo!

We added a flat roof carport just outside the garage in August and unfortunately due to architectural constraints it has just a 6' 6" clearance. Not a problem for an '03 Highlander or '98 SL500 but the OEM antenna on the '09 Tacoma went "twang, twang, twang, twang, twang" on all five trusses and had to be trimmed...

Went through hell getting a flat roof carport. We had ordered one from Carolina Carports and after 12 weeks their installer came with a peaked roof rounded "bubba" looking one and told us the flat roof was not available--I sent him on his way and a pissing match ensued.

VISA finally convinced Carolina Carports (a despicable, vile company for whom customers are just patsies to be played) to give it up.

The flat roof one was made by a great company in Ocala, FL that worked with us to make it fit!

Is it possible to do a die pole antenna? That could hide it all together.
