    After about a week of searching and research, im ready to pull the trigger on a lift. I dont want to spent alot of money on a lift so im guessing a spacer lift is the best way. I want to get the most lift for the money. This truck is a daily driver and is not going to see much off road. The kit im leaning towards is the toytec 3in spacer with aal. Is this going to give me a full 3ins? truck is a 2000 4wd trd.

    "Spacer lift" and "best way" don't belong in the same sentence. I'd wait a bit and save a few more bucks and get some 5100s if I were you.

    a spacer lift is not really a "suspension" lift anyways, as you are not increasing the length or travel, just keeping the OEM shock fully extended and .5" below the coil bucket
    even on the street this is a bad idea as the shock itself will become your bump stop. speed bumps and pot holes = broken shocks

    AAL in the rear won't be too bad, as long as you don't haul heavy loads or use it off road. The AAL will just flatten out over time with aggressive use, but of course there are guys here that run stock rear setups on front LT kits....

    IMHO, saving your money and buying a lift that won't break your truck is best, even for a mall crawling pavement queen

    nothing, all stock expect got a OE replacement air filter K&N.
    the best basic setup to go will run about 500 or less. you can save up for that.

    5100s/eibach coils are the best 3'' lift

    yeah i guess i do need to save up a bit more. Im just ready to get one ASAP! since most everybody seems think 5100s are the best way, is this going to give me the full 3ins? Wheres the best place to shop so i can get an idea of what the price range is going to be.

    Check out Revtek's 426A. Your ride and performance will be practically equal to the coil over conversions. I have had this setup on mine since 2005 and everyone with the coil over's that compared it to mine cannot tell the difference...

    5100's, with Eibach, or OME springs would be the best budget lift.

    If your refering to the spacer kit from revtek, there isnt much out there that rides worse. And lift blocks increase axel wrap, which will wear out the leaf springs faster.

    well..technically OME doesn't lift 3''..not with out the 10mm spacer anyways.

    Eibachs are like 3.5'' or so.

    Granted the OME stuff with also ride better.

    Beat the hell out of a spacer lift on a Tacoma and you run the risk of breaking your shocks. You can't break the spacers themselves, they're just a chunk of metal. They do nothing to help improve the ride and carry risks of breaking other suspension components. I said they're not the best bang for your buck because they do nothing to improve the vehicle. I'd rather go with 5100's and an AAL than spacers and blocks. I understand that the OP's truck is a daily driver and won't be off road but I still think there are better ways to spend money on a lift. FWIW, the OP's use is similar to mine, mostly pavement and rarely off road and I went with 5100's, Eibach coils and the Icon 3-leaf AAL and am very happy with the results (2nd Gen though). OME would also be a great option.

    There's a lot more to a lift than travel. Any standard travel coilover will not increase suspension travel, that's what extended travel coilovers are for. To gain lift, you lose downtravel and gain uptravel. The difference is how the shocks are valved, some can be custom valved, how they are able to soak up bigger hits or have a remote oil reservoir to keep the shock from getting too hot and losing performance. Much more to a lift kit than shock travel.

    OME 880's, Wheeler's Offroad 5-Leaf pack. Bilstein 5100's, 1" Daystar shackles, Deck Plate Mod.
    Spacers are fine man- they're not dangerous and they're not going to ruin your truck... a million people run them on Tacomas and other trucks without any problems. I had one on my taco for a year, and ive used them on a jeep before. Like most of the guys on here, I'm a suspension fanatic, and I upgraded pretty quickly to OME springs and 5100's, but I didn't NEED to.

    The problem with a 3" spacer though, is that you're going to max out your stock shock, which IS a problem. The reality is, though, is that if you're getting new shocks, you might as well just get the 5100's, and set them at 3". That way you wouldnt have to buy a spacer OR a spring, and you'd still get a propper 3" lift.

    I always hear about the 5100's being on backorder for life, but when i ordered mine from Wheelers, they had em.... that was last fall though.
