supras are fun, but they can't jump stuff. if you like the Tacoma and want to go fast, you can duck out or you can get to work.

The lite brite couple on YouTube are Jeep people, but they also have a 2020 Supra with 650 hp. I’m skeptical our tacos can compete at going fast on the road with equatable modifications. Albeit, the same could be true of our tacos competing with a Jeep at off roading. Ugh. I still like the versatility of our tacos. They doing many things well, but none great.

    Speaking from experience...

Wish I had the side by side with the Pro shocks... Even those are a lot smaller...

Did a LOT of test drives and ride alongs before I paid for these.

Even a Toyota sales person agreed on the difference between the Pro vs the 8112 setup,
we took the same route with my truck as we did the Pro.

If I bought a new Pro I would swap out the suspension with these in a heartbeat... huge improvement. Even on daily driving let alone off road.

Changing out the suspension is easy but a pain in the butt, so I only wanted to do in once.

ye im not saying that setup isn't dank and obviously its better than the basic pro fox setup I was just wondering about the whole "handles better than a raptor and corners better than a Porsche" comment lol

    that's kinda funny.

i wouldn't say that exactly. the handling with each is totally different. different wheelbases & weights between the trucks. if you can optimize what you have in the smaller chassis of the Tacoma, and get your suspension and tires right and can read the road, you can fling and bounce this thing around much faster cars if your momentum is on. but that's not for the faint of heart or unskilled. and you'll need chassis and/or suspension reinforcement of some kind to control the flex under load.

Geez, couldn't think you'd want these trucks to handle better. i found them fine while going around tight curves way past the posted speed limit. ....its a truck not a sports car.

At least a Beemer would get around much better than your IH

Took my 2wd sport with stock suspension on some trails last week. Having it scrabble along a cliff-side trail that runs through a few rockfall zones, I might have shat myself. The girlfriend cried, I pretended not to cry, we both chose to ignore the growing shit stains. But despite it's awkward sliding and lumbering, the little Tacoma powered through a trail that most people would only attempt in 4Hi and a 3 inch lift.

Now when it comes to absolute adrenaline thrills, you just can't beat a stock suspension. Will you get through? Will you survive? Who knows! But that's the fun of it. You just don't get that kind of thrill if your truck is overly built for the trail. Capable trucks are almost boring by comparison. If you aren't shitting yourself, well, you aren't living.

    Stock FTW.

I have the Hellwig front sway bar and a Xrunner rear bar on my 2018 OR. They made a massive difference. I also just put on some Toyo H/T tires on the old TRD pro wheels. That made a big improvement over the goodyear tires.

I will be doing KYB monotube gas-a-just shocks later. I’m waiting for magnuson to release the supercharger. I already have the cash saved. After that I’ll be doing the SOS lowering kit and modifying an xrunner x brace to fit.

My truck is already a blast just with the tires and sway bar though.

I recommend posting this stuff in the lowered trucks part of the forum. Most Tacoma owners are very sensitive about taking away off-road capability. But to be honest the majority of Tacoma’s have never seen more off-road than a mud puddle, that a VW beetle could handle, or a mountain road that I could make my autocross car navigate.

Update to the thread. I didn’t change anything, and instead adjusted my driving style to my taco, and I have to say I F’ing love it. Once I figured out how to take into account the roll and sway of this beast, I realized I don’t want it any other way. I appreciate all the info from the experts, but I’m keeping my baby as is and enjoying every minute.
