Need to charge these with nitrogen.
Gonna start looking into getting a nitrogen cannister setup

They're pretty great going through the rough stuff. They absorb a lot and make for a great ride!

So got some parts to make the rear 2.0's work.

To start, the bushing eyelets were too small ID for the stock rear shock mounting points. So I got some 3/4" ID fox hourglass bushings so make them work. When pressed into the shock eyelets they get smaller than 3/4" thought which made them a really tight fit on the shock mount pins. Had to persuade them on there with some lubrication and a rubber mallet. Hope I don't have to take them off anytime soon cause that's gonna be a pita lol.
    20210426_174854.jpg

Also put together a nitrogen setup to charge them up. Also made a no-loss nitrogen fill adapter with some stuff I had at work.
I set both shocks to 180 psi.
Maybe down the line I will start messing with the valving now that I have the means to recharge my suspension with nitrogen
    20210426_174925.jpg

They resis fit in the stock location thankfully. Cycled the suspension to make sure nothing hits them during the entire stroke.
    20210426_185826.jpg

Flexed out each side with the fox on one side and the OME on the other to compare travel numbers

The side with the fox had about 3" more droop from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender.

    OME side:

This is with the rear tire off the ground

    Fox side:
    20210426_180929.jpg

15" with the tire barely off the ground
    20210426_191638.jpg

Tomorrow I'm going to see if I can get any more out of it because I was only able to flex it out in the driveway to where the bumpstop was about 1.5" away from the strike pad. Then I can also see how close the shocks get to bottoming out when on the bumpstops. The driver side is pretty close from what I can tell. About a 1/2" difference, but we'll see.

Either way, I'm stoked with the increase in travel. The road feel so far is pretty good too. Not sure the valving in there, but the PO said that they worked great on his 4runner so probably not far off. Pretty supply at the beginning of the stroke and dampens well.

Flexed it out with the forklift and was able to get a couple more inches out of it.
You can really see how the driver side and passenger side mounts are uneven lengths by how much closer the driver side is to the shaft bump than the passenger side. Also the difference in angles at which they are put at in relation to the axle.

    20210427_123223.jpg

The passenger side is close to using all 26in of the extended length. At about 25in. Although doesn't collapse as much as the driver side under full stuff.

    20210427_122536.jpg

    Passenger side stuff:
    20210427_122841.jpg

    Driver side stuff:
    20210427_122554.jpg

Also removed the front most leaf bracket bolt thing on the passenger side as it was limiting leaf separation at full flex there.

Awesome! I am hoping to do something really similar I just have 2 quick questions. Any reason you mounted the driver side resi facing the front of the truck instead of towards the rear? Also does the passenger resi hit the u bolts at all or come close to it when its fully stuffed? Because the durobumps should compress down a decent amount farther when you bottom out.

    Thanks!
I mounted the resi on that side that way in order to clear my spare 33" I have under the bed in the factory location.
The resis don't contact anything as far as I can tell. The driver side one gets close to the parking brake cable under full stuff that goes across the top of the axle, but I just need to move it up a bit to be fine. It looks like it gets close to the U-bolt, but it's clear of it under full travel.

I was told that the duro bumps should compress down to I believe like half an inch max or so. That pic is with the truck basically on two wheels flexed out to the maximum before tipping over. And it's squished out pretty good so I don't see it compressing that much further than that. Plus there is a rubber shock shaft on the shocks to help with that if it does.

Thanks that was really helpful. Yeah I'm in the same boat keeping my 33in spare under the bed is really important to me. And your one of the few people I've seen cram extended travel remote resi shocks in the stock spots to keep the spare. I love it.

    No prob.
Yea it just bugged me how OME sells a kit that has shocks that limit the travel of the leafs they provide. Just trying to get the most out of what I have currently and get some better performance out of the rear to match my front.
I think @Winkle99 has 10" extended travel ADS shocks in the rear of his on the factory mounts.

Did you order the same 10" rear resi shocks that winkle99 has? I'll be curious if the driver side shock clears the 33" spare with the resi facing backwards and the large 2.5 diameter shock body

These are 9.5in but yeah same 2.5 diameter with piggybacks. If it doesn't quite fit I don't see why I couldn't just flip it around and have the resi face forward like you have

Gotcha. Yea post some pics when you get them installed cause I'm curious on how they fit. I know that winkle99 runs a smaller diameter tire, but i'll be curious on how close it is with the 33 back there.

I finally installed my spare back in the spare tire location so I can post some pictures now. I've been wheeling the truck the last two weekends. I went to Old Chinaman Gulch two weekends ago and I put the spare in the bed to avoid scraping it on the rocks and I left it there last weekend.
In 2017 I removed the legs on the spare tire mounting bracket (lower white arrow, one leg remains before it got cut off).

So I can move the 275 70 R17 (32.2") spare tire if I push hard. If I push so the spare is closest to the shock body, the clearance is about 1/8". The tread depth is currently 8/32".
    IMG_3275.jpg

If I push so the spare is furthest away from the shock body, the clearance is 5/8". So nominally I have about 3/8" clearance between the spare and the drivers side shock body.
    IMG_3276.jpg
I never saw any rub marks on the drivers side shock body event when the tires were new. You can kinda see the ADS sticker is still rather pristine. My resi faces backward.

I hope @seen20 posts some pics when he gets them installed. :boink:

    Gotcha. Thanks for the pics.
Yea I don't think those would fit too well back there with my larger 33" and the resis's facing backwards. The hose connection for the ones on mine seem to work since you can move them to different positions.
