Yeaaaa. That or a ford 9 with a fabbed housing would be dope, but overkill for where I'm at right now imo.

My diamonds took 3 months, ordered early March, and arrived late June. To give you an idea on what wait time is roughly.

Also looking into swapping an FJ80 rear housing, you gain quite a few benefits.
    - Stronger Housing
    - Full float
    - Disc brake w/p.brake
    - 9.5" ring gear.

    Gotcha.
Seems that the wait times are a bit inconsistent based on hearing about some others waiting 8+ months for theirs. Either way, 3 months is too long for for me atm.
If I break another then I'll come back to the fabbed housing.
A ff rear with discs and better ground clearance is very appealing.

If you can't get ahold of Brian, then let me know. My dad has his cell and I can see if he can let us know lead times and cost for you.

That would be awesome. I'll give it a few days to hear back from my email, but I've been told from a few that it can take a couple weeks to hear back via email.
I currently have a lead on an OEM rear 8.4 axle assembly. I'd like to take care of it sooner so the lead time I think will be the deciding factor.
Turbodb was quoted a 6 week lead on his back in August or Sept....

Hence the reason I still would lean towards a fab'd housing for your needs. 14bolt is nice, but without a shave kit, it's basically a boat anchor.

Yea I'm definitely attracted to the claimed 3/4" or so of gained ground clearance on some of the fabbed housings.

If you want a point of reference. Me on 35s with the stock 8" and my dad on 37s and a LC 9.5" and he's got an ~5/16" more clearance than I do with a Diamond Axle.

True, but that 9.5" is going to take up a good big of that clearance. That or your dad has some bfg 37's which would be more like a 35 :luvya:

Ya but he'll have the same 8.4 diff as me. Just wider housing with discs

    It’s an 8” not 8.4”

Nothing wrong. Just going to a 2002 Sequoia rear axle for the extra width to match the LT. 8.4 rear diff with an ARB and disc brakes are the obvious upgrades, but the axle shafts and the bearings are slightly bigger as well.

37x12.50R17 Cooper STT Pros excuse you :luvya:
