Just got truck back from rustproofing via recall. When I went to truck there appeared to have been nothing done. I asked service writer about it and was told that "only the inside of the rails are sprayed". I asked why and was told that "rust only starts on the inside". I pointed out to her surface rust that you could see on the outside of the rails (without even looking under the truck), but she said that it "would never be a problem". I asked her if the new warranty was in effect from the work that was done and she said it was.

I suspect it would have taken another 3 minutes to do the outside of the rails, but It's Toyota's problem now!

Beyond stupid? Or do they simply acknowledge it's just a waste of time and you'll eventually need a new frame anyways? :notsure:

I have not had mine done yet, but it is in the queue and I was told the exact same thing-they drill holes, spray inside and send you on your way. this is the "new" CRC process that they just got a fancy new machine to apply it

There is another thread on here showing that goup leaking out between seems on the frame (where frame is laminated). Looks quite nasty.

I think this is a one time shot with Toyota. I believe you are covered by Toyota after having this done the one time. If you want it done more than once, it would be on your dime.

First they do a pretreat, to clean out the interior, then the application, then they let it dry before they let you roll. Makes sense now that I've seen that interior shot. If you started rolling when it was still pliable, the gravity, hitting bumps etc, would cause the goop to move to the bottom of the channel and expose the the metal.

Taking mine in Monday and they want it for 2 days and are giving me a loaner! After seeing those pictures, I will have to lay cardboard down on the garage floor for awhile.
