I was always a Michelin guy but they've dropped off it seems. I went with Wildpeaks and they've been amazing.

I had Goodyear Duratracs and they looked great but performed horribly. Hydroplaned anywhere. I have the Cooper AT3 4's now and I agree I'd love a more aggressive look. It's hard figuring out what is the most aggressive look that has the lowest impact on mpg's and performance. I'd like to stay at 2657516. I considered 2558516 but I do so much highway driving and usually at 80mph to stay in the "slow lane". I'm not sure that's the safest bet.

Good 'ole smitty99 "We have thornbrush and cacti here with jagged rock that makes Texas look tame. Prickly pear is weak. I mean you realize we have everything Texas has here in AZ...plus about 500 species of cacti that Texas doesn't have."

The stock tires weigh 35 pounds, essentially car tires. I always air them down to 20 psi to compensate, and have had good luck. But they make me nervous, and I'm kind of surprised I haven't had a flat yet. Looking forward to replacing them soon.

I only chimed in originally to comment on the universal belief that sidewall tread improves off road performance substantially.

The oem tires are junk if anything is a little slick. Mud,snow etc. Duratracs run good, have softer tread and handle good in most stuff. Deeper mud and snow not the best. They pack pretty bad. Plus sidewall is easy to cut off road. Ko2 are decent all around and usually wear ok if you get a good set. Always see folks have issues with balancing or belt pull. I've never been a fan. The SL/C rated wildpeaks were the worst tire I've ever run not far behind cooper st maxx. Both wear awful and uneven. And fast. I'd run the oems before a set of these. The st maxx are annoying to balance in bigger sizes plus develop pull like the ko2 do. Cooper stt pro is the best tire I've run. Strong af, grippy and work in all conditions well. I'm running wildpeaks in a E rated and they're running really well. In the cold 10 degrees and lower they are Like hockey pucks until they warm up some. Like most tires listed rotate each oil change. I also run E rated on most things. I wheel, so like the extra protection.

Agree with the sidewall statement! Those stock Goodyear’s are P rated tires. That tells ya’ what you need to know.

I've always had good results with Goodyear. I'm running the e rated Ultraterrains and love'm. Rotate at 5k intervals. A little on the loud side but great wear and can handle the serrated/jagged rocks of southwest Texas and get me down the beach with no problems.

I had so many flats in the stock wranglers - didn't know what I was missing till I got KO2s... The traction really isn't that great on those Wranglers...

I like my Duratracs' performance, but they are LOUD! So be prepared.

I had a few sets of duratracs over the years. They get LOUD after a while but other then that they were a good tire.

I have wilpeaks now. I would say they are a good tire not a great tire. My truck had much better ride quality with cooper AT3s I bought it with and they were half worn.
The wilpeaks tend to magnify all of the imperfections of the road whitch makes the ride quality suck sometimes plus they were a bit challenging to balance even at the dealer with the proper adapter and road force balancer. They almost make the truck feel bouncier in certain situations. Many have reported similar issues with the wildpeaks.

Agree with those saying Falken Wildpeaks, I ran them on another rig, and just threw them on the Taco.

Noise level is one of the best, and they have a tread depth of 18 compared to the K02 at 15. Not a huge difference, but a difference all the same. They have larger shoulder blocks on the outer edge of the tire and also have them staggered on the inner tread blocks along the center of the tire to help cut down on that road-noise.

    Warranties are near identical.

Look how much scraping you have on your sidewalls. You need more sidewall protection and are bound to be getting sidewall failure soon. Wrangler sidewalls are quite fragile from my experience.

Their quality hasn't been near the same the last five years. My company buys about 7000 a year. Cracking, drying out and less mileage has lead us to buy half that.

Duratracs come in a C load on the 265/75/16 tire. Best rain rating,3 peak snow designation and best rim protection.

    No brainer.....

Second these. I have them on my Taco. They are great on highway and on the trails. When I comes time for new tires, these are going on again.

I've got the Goodyear ultra terrain which is a bit more road friendly than the duratrac only at discount tire, it's a fantastic tire. 20k miles on mine rotated every 5k. They are amazing in the snow and only slightly louder than stock offroad tires..... Also way lighter than k02's.

We had Michelin all seasons on the wife's SUV and the sidewalls were cracking and splitting at 60,000kms (38,000miles).

Yeah they've had some pretty serious problems for years with that. At first they floated out that it's fine. Then started replacing. They really botched that one.
