BFG KO2, What Happened?

Been using BFG KO's for decades and started looking to put the KO2's on my new truck but noticed that the KO2's don't have the rim protector that the previous KO's had. Any reason why it was discontinued. I've heard of bead problems but I have never had any problems with them. Is BFG going backwards? It's not a deal breaker but having it would be nice. For my taste I love the look of those tires so there's no changing for me. Just wondering.

Love my KO2's, so far they'll been worth every dollar. Just buy them and be happy like the rest of us.. I think you're over looking this issue.

As I said I love the tire and will still get the KO2's just wondering why, not over thinking it.

 

I don't think curb rashing is much of an issue with the tire sizes most of us run at road PSI. And if you scuff a wheel while wheeling/aired down it's just another battle scar/cool story to tell.
