E load tires have a max pressure of 80psi usually
At least the ones I’ve seen

Even C load you want to run more than your placard reads. I run about 45psi in my C loads if you notice your corners wearing, add psi. If your centers are wearing, run less psi. That is the formula.
Running 80psi in an E load is only necessary when you have a full load in your bed or pulling a heavy load.
    Running 60psi in a C load is the same,only full/heavy loads.
Check your psi at cold levels also..

That makes total sense, but I’d think you would be wearing the middle at 39psi with the Tacoma. I’ve put about 200k miles on BFGs in a half ton Chevy 4x4, and 35-40 was the sweet spot.

About to install a set on the Tacoma now that I’ve put 52k on the OEM tires. I was just looking for a starting point. Got a sweet deal at 4 Wheel parts on Black Friday that I couldn’t pass it up. 5 tires for under $700! Really wanted those Grabber X3s in C load but they never seem to budge on price.

I’ll be glad to be back in BFGs, as I’m now up to 6 plugs kn the Goodyears. I’m sure they’re great tires, but not if you like to deer hunt in Texas. Mesquite is a bitch.

You can start with your recommended psi from the placard. But you still need to make sure you are running adequate psi in your tires to distribute the weight properly.

yup yup. I've never been able to get good results with the chalk test, but the dirt road test works pretty well/ then carefully tweak based on tire wear. I'm doing 5 tire on this one so I plan to get a bunch of miles out of them. I have a matching wheel for a spare.

PSI is a means to an end. That end is inflated load rating.
    A LT265/70/16 attains a load rating of 1,964 lbs @ 39 psi.

The stock tire placard requires whatever PSI is required to attain a 2,149 lb load rating from a P-metric or ISO/ETRTO-metric tire.
The SR, SR5,and Sport use a P-metric; the Offroad uses a ISO/ETRO metric

    SR/SR5-P245/75/16 109SL @ 32psi=2,172 lb
    Offroad-265/70/16 112SL @ 30psi=2,149 lb
    Sport-P265/65/17 110SL @ 29psi=2,149 lb

If you go to an LT the load requirement is reduced by a factor of 1.1...2,149/1.1=1,954 lbs.

Boom. Science. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

Found the chart on Discount Tire as well. Now I just have to find a scale big enough for a Tacoma.

Use dry day water hose method. Wet your tire and drive a few feet.
