Take that base off so you got no need for bungees. I got tired of replacing them so I took my base off and amazingly it fits perfect in the offroad base :D

Now if some crackhead steels my jack it's got no base :D

    No crackheads here
And the bungees are not to hold the base rather the base is there to hold my bungees and hotdog fork and such

Yeah, the first cut was the biggest PITA. The problem is you can't secure it well so it shakes and wobbles all over the place. I was using a reciprocating saw, that seemed to work best of my cutting implements. Although I didn't try the chainsaw... Once I was able to clamp it down to a table it wasn't too bad, but had to stop every couple inches and re-secure it.

    bike update
    update
so i got the old motor out today and the new "old motor" in place
i still need to hook up carb, oil lines, starter, cct, brakes, clutch cables, ect
and i need to swap out the starter gears.....
i hope to do some of that tomm before the rain starts
the motor was a breeze to remove and install by myself ....
within 20 mins i had all engine mounting bolts back in place
i took the motor out of the left hand side....with bike on kickstand
lots of sandwich bags and tape to label everything.....
here are some pics from today

    1388276243_zps35c5e885_249845544cfc9a38386cbf335308ce41eff43768.jpg

i could not get the starter out without removing the CCT.....so out it went.....
i didn't try to remove the cap..but maybe if you did that you could gain enough clearance...but idk and did not try
    1388276293_zps4434c361_a8b9d497dbe33c0d42d1f88b6010ce8249c8a57c.jpg

    1388276324_zps0573e552_f1c9a4c8ebdee2d4afa140ba2b54dfd2daf21803.jpg

here is the gasket......its the broken motor....on the new old motor face is clean and i have a new gasket...
    1388276393_zpse9525aac_ac9a2b93201ccfa7a30d5f25aab96cfca63de82a.jpg

    here is the CCT removed

    1388276460_zps78193487_ce49c0cccfbe776f4e5789841b9f06495da45f91.jpg

and she is out...not as bad as i thought it was

    1388276536_zps1a501a05_cd82524f36191ef42077b86486bee9aa0c6e52de.jpg

then the insane clown posse showed up for a wheel bearing swap and drinking began and bike progress came to a halt

    update day 2
    got allot accomplished today
    i started by making these
    1388365982_zpsc715b54a_265e68f374de6aba6b644999a725447e4bfcf2c4.jpg

    1388366288_zpsed34693f_a54ea846aca4d01e053c567e594638ae9d68ce58.jpg

then i installed the starter and cct
    1388366690_zps972517f6_9c644c7202598cdae5ff5e5f7fa92b8afa557c61.jpg
then i set motor at TDC and removed the CCT and then re installed it....
    1388366690_zps972517f6_9c644c7202598cdae5ff5e5f7fa92b8afa557c61.jpg
then i adjusted the valve clearances while i was in there....
    1388366201_zps2328443a_33fdcad2b35b620cbf0d2e92bb103917661ca8c7.jpg

i opened the left cover and found that it already had a starter clutch gear
also found that this engine had a failure of said solid gear in the past and someone welded it back....
that was not disclosed to me upon purchase...
but it looks to be fine and a nice weld job too...
    1388366715_zps007c0887_880e0db677c40985858f85be648bba4c15d8bdd0.jpg

i cleaned up the surface rust.....
    1388366738_zps8d7f801a_b8d27e40a766287759bef66d1079f6d434fa1ab6.jpg

    1388366086_zps0776718b_d1ca6b198071f7e082ac6b4894bcac073781e2ab.jpg

then these gaskets KICKED MY ASS
omg what fresh hell in getting the gaskets off.......like almost 2 hours errrrr
    1388366349_zpsb1993361_dfff292140877c1d34faeec78956b092f5d37045.jpg

also found on the old motor that the oil filter cover is cracked :maybe it happened during shipping idk
but no problem as i have a nice donor motor
    1388366331_zpsdb4df4c0_462221f801b3786a3afacc85307c212974418108.jpg

then i fished out the damages
it looks like something imploded unsure if its 3rd gear
    but it a gear......
    1388366374_zps9617c8c6_3f2f1805b763dd4bf765a5da1bff0d213be9d7a7.jpg

    1388366221_zpsa30fafeb_ebf970c0314accd0d57bc60cecd925a1c5510fe0.jpg

then i got the oil lines installed as well as the carb, rear brakes, levers, exhaust, just about everything except for wiring and tank......

    hows the throttle response look
    http://youtu.be/j2Lfq2hEq58

i was to wet and tired and beat up to try n rush to finish job....
but maybe tomm if i can get home early......

any tips or advice before i try n fire her up
i did not add any oil today as i wanted the loctite and gasket sealant to cure up......
i am also looking for a new oil cooler.....
