    is the 4.0 the same as those used in the second gen tacomas?
    so the 3.4 are bulletproof correct?
    sure does right.....and no sunroof...but its a v8
    i do allot of driving

    so far every truck i have seen has some form or rust somewhere or everywhere....
    and the few that did not were $$$$$ or looked like they had just been painted over

    There may be some slight differences but it is the same basic motor. The general consensus seems to be that the 3.4 is pretty much indestructible. A guy I wheel with Southern01Taco has over 250k miles and a supercharger on his with no problems.


    With the V8, its only about a 1 MPG difference between the 4.0 and the 4.7. If you have any questions there are a ton of knowledgeable guys over on t4r.org and in the 4Runner section here on TW
