Glad you and the house are ok. Make sure you show the wife that you remembered to put the drip pan in before you started! How could she be mad then?

Holy crap! How DID I miss this last night?!?

So awesome. That series of pictures is unbelievably terrific. I mean, the cut to the fire truck, back to the torched light, then to the dudes in full gear with respirators. The way those guys are standing facing opposite directions is even funny somehow.

it's just a thing of beauty, OP. Bra-vo!

Sorry for your pain and $ drain, but well done (well done, indeed).

I have a PayPal account for my photography business: Mike@RushtonImages.com I suppose you could send it there. Bought the new light yesterday, and with my military discount it was still $709.00 Looks like the Blistein's and OME's I was going to install Tuesday are going to have to wait.

OMG......that was hilarious and actually made me feel a bit better. Awesome that the people in this group are so cool. Now I have to go find an "un-burnt" towel to clean the coffee off my computer screen that I just spewed.

Was worried that the direct heat from the baking sheet would melt / soften the clear lens.

First, I didn't know I had a neighbor who's on the forums. Why haven't you ever come over and shared a beer or six?

I put the fire out myself with a small fire extinguisher, pulled the plug from the wall (oven) and then the smoke began to POUR out of the oven vents. I was concerned that if I opened the oven and tried to cary the "molten mess from hell" out the front door, that it might re-ignite, or drip melted shit all over the house. So I was going to let it cool first, but hence the smoke had gotten so bad that now I could not see in the kitchen.

I callee the Provost Marshals Office (911) and told them that there HAD been a fire in the oven, that it WAS EXTINGUSIHED, and that I wanted them to send over someone from the Fire Department to ventilate the house of the smoke. I told them the DID NOT need to run hot (lights and sirens), and again there was NO FIRE. Well, you know how things work on Fort Bragg based on what rolled up to the house 5 minutes later.

The guys from Corvias showed up as well, and pulled the stove out of the house for me. I asked them what it was going to cost me and they said not to worry about it, and that a new (previously used) stove would be here on Monday morning.

I'm also retired Air Force. Got blown up in Iraq in 2009. So I'm blaming everything that happened yesterday on the residuals of my Traumatic Brain Injury. Or I could always blame in on Ambien and say I had no idea why I put a perfectly good headlight in the oven and turned it on. Must have been "sleep-baking".
