What about 1000, 1500 grit? If you can find it, try 2500 and up grit.

Pros are in. I personally like them better. A subtle smoking of the headlights.

I'll post the BHLM's for sale within a few days.

Yep, I am. Soon. One of the Pro's they sent me had a broken tab though, so once I'm done dealing with this I'll post the BHLM's. I'm thinking $280 shipped (I'm assuming shipping will be $40-50, same as the Pros were)

Hopefully this helps, did mine a couple weekends ago and took pictures to remember where everything went. The four long screws hold in the turn signal bowl and the plastic trim piece on the front of the headlight.

This is one mod that i've really been sandbagging. The moisture has been my main concern.

I resealed using the 3M stuff after scraping out the factory glue and one headlight had internal condensation and I poured about a cup of water out the bastard. Pulled, baked, and resealed this weekend and so far it's holding up. I've done this to two other vehicles without removing the factory glue or adding new glue and never had issues.

    Nice work!

One of the best mods. I've done it on all three tacos I've owned! :D

I didn't scuff mine. Normally I would but since it is sealed inside the housing it won't be beat up by rain, rocks, etc. so it's not a big deal. Just clean them really well.

Nicely done, and don't forget, you can also use this procedure to do the color match BHLM so they match the body color of your truck.

One thing I did not see in your write up was if you removed the chrome from the bezel before painting. I've done this mod both ways (removing the chrome, and leaving it on), and IMO removing the chrome is the way to go. The paint is much more durable and less prone to chipping during reassembly (ask me how I know).

The easiest way I have found to remove the chrome is by using Easy-Off oven cleaner. NO SANDING IS NECESSARY !!!! Spray it on, let it sit for about 10 minutes, and rinse it off with a hose. Repeat as many times as necessary to get it all off. The bulk of it should come off with the first application, but the inside corners tend to be a little more suborn. When it's all gone, rinse well, let them dry, and move on to the painting.Tacoma.jpg

How many people painted the entire bezel and how many taped off some sections? I painted the entire bezel and when I reinstalled it I noticed that the amber corner light is quite dim. The chrome part of the bezel there that most of us painted over must actually work as a reflector. Woops. I came across 3 "How To BHLM" threads and it's only mentioned in the one I didn't read. Oh well, just a heads up if anyone wants to keep that light more functional. The DRL/signal light still seems plenty bright as its reflector is more so in the housing. I'll post this in both how to threads for anyone interested.

Still looks good. I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Thanks. I actually got some oem lights for free so I didn’t have to take mine off first for the process. $12 for paint n silicone, better than spending $420 for trd pro lights12AEB820-CE80-404D-A1BE-F3F1F24A53B7.jpg
