i went to pep boys and bought a dome light that is slightly bigger than one meant for the 01-04 trucks..i think 3175. (correct me if im wrong)
so i tweaked the supports inside the dome light housing and made it fit perfectly.....the only problem is that it only gets bright when i turn the map lights on...when it's left off, it flickers...i ended up touching the metal with the screw driver and blew out a fuse. i replaced the fuse. put back the stock dome light and everything works fine now.
oh yeah, the radio, clock, map lights, and headlights all went out.:( i got scared for a second.

if done correctly, can i actually make this bigger dome light work without blowing any more fuses.. like replacing the dome light fuse with a bigger amp?

some of this, a little of that
Is it worth the hassel, I mean is the increase in light marginal? Have you looked into LED replacements for the stock bulb, that might prove to be a better result for you.
