I have a 2006 DC w/ a 3" spacer lift on it at the moment. I am considering the 5100 series adjustable shocks up front. I know thay will adjust to 2.5" with the stock springs. My question is what coils do I need to get it up to a full 3". I want to get 33's under it & 'wheel it.

I am undergoing the same dilemma. I believe you have a choice between the Eibach coils from Toytech or the OME coils.
I do not like the idea of using my stock coils on the 2.5 setting.

Katskin leather interior, Satoshi grille, Bilstein 5100's @ 1.75, rear leaf TSB, magnaflow exhaust, 18x9 BBS RW's, 275/65/18 Nitto TG's, black headlights, black taillights, Hella Supertones, weathertechs, EFX tri-fold tonneau, n-Fab steps
You have two options with the 5100s to achieve 3" of lift
    1. stock coils @2.5 with 0.5" top plate spacer
    2. Eibachs coils at 0.85" with 0.5" top plate spacer.

Keep in mind you will likely need new ucas to get your alignment in spec at 3" of lift.

Which coils? The 1.6"? The UCA's will be next. How well does this set-up work off road?

1.6" yes. If you are into hardcore offroading I'd recommend icon, fox, or king coilovers.

Get the 5100 with the toytec/eibach coils.
Set the billies at .85 and you should have a great ride and 2.5" of lift. That should level your truck, then cab mount chop and some minor plastic removal from the wheel well and you're good to go.

I've done some plastic trimming. Cab chop will be done as well.

Ok... looking at a set of 5100's and OME 885 coils. Set them at .85? Will this give 2.5 or 3" up front?

    885's and 5100's @ 0 plus a 1/4" top plate spacer will get you 3" on a DC

Who makes a 1/4" top plate spacer? I know Toytec has a 1/2" (I think). That's why I was asking if I could use the 885's and set the 5100's at .85 to avoid a spacer.

Toytec makes a 1/4" top plate spacer which provides approx 1/2" of lift

Setting the 5100s at .85 abd using the 885s will give about 4 " lift.

For a little bit more money why don't you go OME. They key not be adjustable but they will get you a full 3 inches of lift over stock.

^^Why doesn't anyone run this? What would be so bad with setting the billys at .85 w/ 885 coils? Everyone seems to reccomend against this, but i just don't recall seeing a reason for not doing it.

Because your suspension only has 4 inches of town travel as it is. Lifting 4 inches will net you 0 down travel.

    885's will only net 2 1/2" on a 2nd gen DC

Many have gotten 3" from the 885's with no spacer.

OK here is a noob question. I know this thread kinda proves wrong but.... :crapstorm:

I thought billies only went up to 2.5. Would putting them up to 3 over extend them?
