anyone know how good the stock suspension of my prerunner would be if i got rid of the factory bilsteins and went with the 5100"s??? i know its an adjustable shock and all, but i dont want any front or rear lift. i plan on keeping it stock, so would the 5100's work out? the ride(and handling maybe) should be a little better right?? appreciate any info!!!

i have the 5100s tacoman. all 4, they are smooth as buttah. but i had the tokicos (toyota) shocks so i cant help you any there. IMO if you dont want the little extra front lift. stick with what you have.

ok cool, but is there not a basic stock setting on the 5100's?? basically, what im saying is if you install the 5100's in the front, will it keep it at the stock setup, if you leave the shock in the position as it is,or can it be adjusted to be in the stock position?? so far, ive heard how good these shocks are, just hope they will work on stock trd prerunner susp., and not give any lift at all.

I have not heard of anyone using these shocks to upgrade their stock suspension without lifting. From what I have heard the stock Bilsteins are pretty good. I personally would not spend the money on the 5100's if I was not lifting the truck.

But as far as I have heard there is a stock setting on the 5100's that will leave your truck at stock height.

Do you find the ride that bad on your truck?

i dont know why you would want to change out your bilsteins for another set unless you wanted to lift it, i dont think it will improve the ride at all. Whats wrong with the ride in your TRD?

im not changing out now........as im gonna wait for the bilsteins(stock) that i have wear out. i was just wandering about the 5100's for a stock setting because everyone keeps saying how smooth they are. the only complaint about my ride right now(and has been for a while) is it will only keep an alignment for a couple of weeks, then its back out again. im taking it to a different dealer this saturday and see if they can figure it out.

If you are having alignment issues I think its more than just the shocks. Good call on getting it checked out. I have the TRD with Bilstein's and have not had any alignment issues. Hope you get it fixed.

You know, when i was researching the Taco i heard some complaints about keeping it in alignment. Its kinda hard to tell sometimes though, alot of the time when i leg to of the wheel it will start to slightly veer (sp) to the left, but all cars do that since the road is slightly graded to the left for water run off. I think mine's fine but if it is out of alignment its not bad, the drift is barely there and it's probably just the road. Is there a good way to tell aside from letting go of the wheel and seeing if it drifts?

oh yeah....come drive my truck when its out of alignment, you can tell big time!! just like this last time they road forced my tires and gave it an alignment, it was great for 2 weeks(even better than when i bought the truck), but now the steering wheel is crooked again, and its back to being all over the road!! hopefully its not something serious........maybe some mechanic at my dealership isnt tightening something up enough....who knows??!! im taking it to charlotte instead of here in rock hill again........im getting really tired of my dealership and having to keep going back every couple of weeks to get my truck looked at again.

Last time i was in Rock Hill we had a benefit for a buddy at Mchales. Thats where all my buddies like to drink and one of our friends use to be a bouncer up there and he was recently diagnosed with cancer. So we had a big benefit for him to raise money. My friends band played and they took in money at the door and passed around a bucket. I actually filled in on the drums for a little bit. I just hadn't thought about it till you mentioned rock hill. It was actually kind of a big deal and a news crew came out and everything. anyway, just a random string of thoughts........
