    Hello,

My name is Mike and I'm new to TacomaWorld. I just recently installed a set of front bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks in my 2006 access cab 4x4. I have these set to the highest setting (2.5"). After I installed them I keep feeling a vibration noise coming from the front when I slow down to a stop sign or right around 40-45 MPH. The vibration goes completely away when I put it in 4x4. I've seen a lot of posts about this issue but I could not find a solid solution. From the research I have done, I think it has to do with the bearing in the diff that goes to the cv joint and the increased cv angel is causing the noise. Any solutions ??

Also what would be the drawbacks of a front diff drop?

    Welcome to TacomaWorld.

Unfortunately not an uncommon problem after lifting. Sounds to me like it is the drivers side needle bearing, especially since it goes away when switching into 4 wheel drive. ECGS bushing replacement should resolve that issue. Good luck.

This link has a lot of information about that issue and a fix:

Another link for you that has a lot of information:

IMO, I do not feel that a diff drop would solve your issues. I would try the ECGS bushing fix first, and if that solves the problem you should be good to go. There are some here on TW that have done the diff-drop, and some that have not used it at all. So you may get some that are for it and some that feel it isn't needed. Every truck is different, even if it is the same model year and equipped the same.
