Been looking to lift and level my tacoma so I can fit 285/65r17.
I’ve looked all over and I’m not looking to break the bank with an icon or king kit yet but I want something that isn’t super stiff but can take the weight of a front bumper and winch.

I’ve recently seen Bilstein 5100 front and rear shocks with Old Man Emu coils in the front.

Also I was looking at the complete Old Man Emu 2” lift that costs about $1,226, and have heard a ton of mixed reviews. It’s way too stiff of ride and then I hear it’s a great kit.

If anyone could help me out with some advice I would greatly appreciate it!

Bilsteins 5100s on the top setting, 4runner Gray TRD Pro Sema wheels, 285/70/17 Toyo AT3s, Sumo Bump stops, TRD exhaust, ECGS Clamshell bushing, 1/4 shim for the lean and one inch rear block, OEM Pro grill and garnish OEM TRD Skid plate, TRD CAI, Demon Brackets, Rigid Industries Pro fog lights, OEM Trail Rails sidebars, Diode Dynamics LED SL1 high and low beam lights, OEM Roof racks, Clazzio leather heated seats, Remote Start, TRD Pro shift knob, tinted windows, Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp for the headunit and sub and amp combo, OEM Puddle lights, OEM tailgate lock, OEM bed mat, LED interior lights, OEM blackout kit for letters, JLT catch can, upgraded 27F toyota True Start battery, Vleds led tail light kit with Pro tail lights, OEM Rave4 side mirrors with convex spotters, just to name a few mods.
Here you go. 5100s on the next to the top setting, factory coils and ucas, one inch block in the rear, perfect allignment, rides smooth, handles better than stock, added some 265/70/17 SL Toyo open country at2 on TRD pro Sema wheels. No rubbing, no issues and didn't break the bank. Still getting the same gas mileage , gained about 3 inches in the front and a little more than an inch in the rear after the larger tires. The speedo is dead accurate. Imo it's a great way to have a nice lift, capable of doing what I want off road if I decide to go, and looks great!IMG_20181009_175704107_HDR.jpg IMG_20181009_181855269_HDR.jpg IMG_20181009_181822806_HDR.jpg IMG_20181009_175704107_HDR.jpg

I went from 5100's on stock springs to the OME lift. I love the OME lift and went with the heavy setup in anticipation for bumper and winch. I saw major improvements offroad. Even without the bumper and winch I don't believe its too stiff. Its a truck, its going to be stiffer than a car or suv. If you're anywhere near AZ I still have the 5100's and ill let them go for a good deal.

2” of lift front and rear

    Look at http://headstrongoffroad.com/

Rear comes 1 inch higher, so it should still be rear high.

It was level but the front settled so the front is about 1” lower than the rear

    LF 37”
    RF 37”
    LR 38”
    RR 38”

Edit: I would have gone with the 888s if I knew what I knew now

What OME coils did you go with and are you on a new full leaf pack?

How much lift did you get out of the 888s? How is the ride?

This is the Headstrong 5100's with 887's, .25" Driver's side Spacer and the Icon 1.5" 3 Leaf AAL with no Overload and a 3º Shim, which is pretty close to the same thickness as a leaf on one end. Tires are 265/75/16 K02's on 16x8 et -25 SCS F5. Some minor trimming on the front fender liners was all that was required. The ride is definitely more firm than stock but I consider that a good thing, I'm not a fan of mushy suspension. I've driven mostly European cars on coilovers so it's much softer than what I am normally used to.

I am very happy with the end result in both looks and drivability.

I’m running the 886 springs and the OME full leaf pack. I did not add or remove any leafs.

I got 2.65” in the front with the 888s after settling. I got 2.05” in the rear with aal. The ride at first was really firm but has since settled and I’m very happy overall with both ride and looks. It’s still firmer ride than stock was but it’s what I was looking for. Less roll in turns and feels very secure and smooth on pavement imo

Nice, did you do UCAs and precautionary ECGS bearing?
What about shims in the rear or CB drop?
